Fuel Consumption

Car  Non Sport Megane
Was at the South East Clio meet today, and we started talking about fuel consumption, people were shocked when i said the highest id got mine to was about 30mpg, and that wa to bluewater and back from burgess hill, and normally sits at about 25ish driving around town, someone at the meet said that there PH1 172 normally sits at about 30ish driving around town, then goes up on motorway driving, does this seem excessively bad to anyone else here? Someone at the meet said that maybe my timing belt may have been timed incorrectly? could this be causing the problem.
The cars had a cambelt kit, the date on the receipt shows 16/2/11 so just over a year ago
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this has now got me worried :(

Pop it down to Ren-Tech or K-Tech or 2 Techs for a proper tech to look at the timing.

As that would cause low MPG, yes.

Can you give me website links please? im aware that K-Tech is about 2.5 hours away, and that Ren-tech is about 1.5 hours, but cant find 2 Techs anywheree

Thanks Sash! il book a day off work, and take her up there! I see your the South east rep, where abouts are you based?

I was in Sevenoaks, Kent, but now live in Laindon, Essex :)

With a steady motorway run I would expect to see 37-40mpg ish. I used to see 42mpg easy on my motorway runs.

Ah okay, i organised a meet today at Pease Pottage Services, i had a pretty good turnout, about 10 cars which wasnt too bad for the 1st meet, im hopefully going to be going to the next maidstone meet! fingers crossed anyway! oh really? so mines pretty shocking then!

Mine rarely drops below 30 and that is all urban driving.

Averaged 41.8 on a run to and from Oulton a couple of weeks back.

she not very well then by the sounds of things ): will get her to TwoTechs as soon as i can get some time of work!
