G-TECH performance figures for my 182...

My mate bought one of these gadgets for a laugh and after i had washed my car decided to rig it to the 182 to see what it was like....

only did two 0-60 runs in it but i was unsure whether to take the esp off as on my runs it seems to sap first gear away a bit too much...

got 7.5 seconds which i think is respectable considering my rather large mate was in the car, full tank of gas, and spare tyre and cleaning kit in boot...

so who wants to tell me that its aload of crap then and that their grandad could drive faster....;)

ive had a go in mine mate, kept getting 7.31 with me n my mate in on 17s. after a few practices starting i got it down to 6.47. on my own with spare wheel out and all ice, less petrol,16s on n i reckon 6.00 ;)

good stuff matey! i was just about to post that this thread had gone down in flames!

i got to much wheelspin really plus the clutch took a bit of a hammering....

Ive had 6.31 with my G-Tech pro.

I think as long as you are only comparing G-techs then the timings are fine.

If you start comparing G-tech times to lazer times or another means, then the figures will differ etc.

To be honest I absolutely never do standing starts. Dont see the point. So you wont catch me at a drag day or playing silly buggers at the traffic lights. It just knackers the clutch and the rest of the transmission. Also standing starts just emphasize the main weakness of an FWD so dont really give a true impression of its performance compared to RWDs and 4WDs.

What is the G-Tech pro thing and what else can it do? Its not one of those GPS things is it?

it does 1/4 mile times g force and something else i think aprt from 0-60

i couldnt understand why i was getting 7.31 nearly all the time??? my mates williams got 5.89 first go and 5.58 second. i couldnt beleive it! hes good at starting tho,im rubbish aint had many goes at it so i just either nearly stalled or just wheelspun :( my car finds it hard to get the power down even with 17s on. get sort of gradually away then try and open it up and it just spins. his williams seemed to grip and pull like mad. it was only 171 bhp n 145lb/ft too (less than mine!)

g techs are 40 on e bay. they do 0-60 and 1/4 mile times 60-0 braking times and distances and measure g force....clever bits of kit

i thought it was some sort of stopwatch gadget but u press go then it senses movement. as soon as u start moving, the timer starts n then records your 0-6- then 1/4 mile and what speed your doing!!!

oh also measures bhp

The bhp thing is well dodgy on them and wouldnt trust it for toffee, but assuming the accelerometer (G sensor) is sound then they should be accurate enough (if you really want an explanation on why/how it would work I can go into it, but its pretty boring).

But rememeber only accurate readings will be on a flat bit of road, 5.8 for a willy if it was standard tbh means someone was doing something wrong :)

Mk1 172 and I have only tested it once, slighty wet so got quite a bit of wheelspin and got a 6.88, so reckon I can get that down easily :)

Average on my old 19 valver was around 7.2.

it wasnt standard mate like i said.171 bhp. i pressed the buttons for mine and his runs. his car felt a lot quicker hence the second quicker to 60. your supposed to do several runs tho and take an average.....he only did 2

The best ive had with my G-tech pro is 7.21 to 60 and 15.85sec 1/4mile. Thats in a Valver by the way. To get the most accurate reading the road must be as flat a possible and before you start the run the g-tech must register 0.0 on the display before you reset it for the run. They are so sensetive and can easily read 0.1 or 0.3 before you start. This will alter your time.
