Garage cost of fitting a steering rack

  Oyster Card
First off let me wish you all merry xmas, and thanks for all your help and god knows I've needed it with my Renaults.

Anyway shes decided she wants a new Steering Rack this week, I was wondering what would a garage charge me to fit one on a mk1 PAS model?

Cheers lads.

oh f~cking hell, I'm pretty sure it's the rack the steering has become sluggish and pretty much heavy. The wheel jolts when I go over bumps, errr what else. yeah it comes and goes sometimes the steering is normal other times it's hard.
Oh and to top it off I need a new wheel bearing.

Also sorry mate, if it's £50 ph and it takes about 2hrs howcome about £150-£200?
My local is £40 ph will give them a call after the xmas period.

But when I think about it a car is a luxury and christmas pretty much sums up how lucky we all are. People in other countrys would give their balls to own any car, obviously they'd want them back when they found out how many problems it's got lol.

Merry chrismas mate.

To be honest I'm not 100% it's the rack now, I might have bent something as I mounted the kerb at 30 about a week ago and my problems started about a couple of days after.

I was reading about wheel alighment and it says if the steering feels heavy and the wheel kicks back when going over bumps (which mine does). My car also pulls to the right.

The castor could be out which indicates I've bent something, either way my wallet is in for a raping.
Any ideas what it could be and whats the worst I could be looking at?

If the caster is out of adjustment, it can cause problems in straight line tracking. If the caster is different from side to side, the vehicle will pull to the side with the less positive caster If the caster is equal but too negative, the steering will be light and the vehicle will wander and be difficult to keep in a straight line. If the caster is equal but too positive, the steering will be heavy and the steering wheel may kick when you hit a bump. Caster has little affect on tire wear.

Thats exactly what I'm experiancing, i hit the kerb n/s at about 30 as some little .... decided not to give way and come in my lane as there was parked cars in hers.
