Gearbox paint??? Also colour!

Hi folks!

just after painting my engine block from...Amm rust to black!

I painted it with this stuff

Anyway...
The gearbox is very dirty looking(tried cleaning with gunk before)

would black or silver be best?
also would the same type paint as the one above be okay?

That stuff looks sufficient. Colour depends on what colour you want it. I will probably do mine silver at some point.

Painting a engine in high temp paint is not good practice as it helps contain heat within the engine.

Do most ppl on here use high temp paint?

Also I just bought another can to do my spare Williams engine....

Literature that i have read regarding building race engines say that its not good to use heat resistant paint.

Just brought it to the attention of the Op just incase he was not aware.

However that is for track use, might be different for road cars etc.

Finished the gearbox anyway
My my what a difference!!!

A sweet ph1 172 gearbox on 65K miles

It will spruce up the engine bay a little bit

Also got a bit carried away with the spraying...
Also painted....
Two driveshafts,
gearbox bolts,
1 Wishbone,
1 Shock.

Must do the other wishbone and shock shortly.


Hopefully the engine will be okay with the high tempreture paint :/
