Getting audio remote to work with aftermarket HU?

Hi,

I picked up my new motor yesterday (03 1.2 dynamique billabong edition . . pics to follow in a few days) and I changed the HU to my Pioneer 6900-IB I was just wondering is there any way to get the remote behind the steering to work with the head unit?

Is there any cheaper way or is that the only way?

I'm not too bothered about getting it to display. Can I just use the patch lead? I just want the stereo stalk to work.

No the patch lead won't work without the interface!

Don't think there's any cheaper way, unless you can find second hand units!
