Getting Insurance Companies to send you quotes?

The Boosh!

Has anyone experienced any issues with the above?

I've renewed my insurance, but i've found getting companies to send quotes through e-mail or post is like getting blood from a stone.

a-plan right out refused to send me the quote, adrian flux did after I asked but only 2 days after the quote which is pretty useless imo, brentacre have been good.

Renewed with flux in the end as they beat brentacre on price with the added benefit that I can drive other cars tpft which is really handy for me and is almost un heard of for 22 year olds.

Cheers

I've always found that emailed quotes from specialists are stupidly high.

I renewed with Admiral last month. No one could even get close to my quote with them. Rang up the well known specialists, such as Flux, Brentacre etc. No deal from them.

I had this issue also, Greenlight said that they could not insure my car due to the model making too many claims! :S

always seems to be better when you speak to a person on the phone. I am with Flux I hate them they are full of horror stories and I have a few myself. Just stuck with them for another month just because it was a good price

Just to clarify this is after speaking to the people, getting a good quote and asking them to send it me through e-mail. Most of them refused :s

I can shed some light on this. A lot of people use 'written quotes' to bargain their renewal price down, hence the reluctance for insurers to send a price out in writing they know a customer is just going to take back to another/their own insurer. Some insurers, no names but trade on lot of forums but have horrendous age criteria and restrictions, in a lot of cases actually refuse to provide a quotation unless they know how much you have been quoted elsewhere, this is because if they want the business, they just take off £40 odd.
At Sky Insurance, some of my team share this reluctance, funnily enough I've just has a firm word with them off the back of feedback on another forum stating someone has asked us to send our quoation out in writing three times, although in this particular case, we had the wrong 1st line of address :rasp:. If we send out a written quotation, we do not include the car club discount so our price apprears higher than that quoted, this is to try and prevent people using us as a bargaining tool.

Very logical. I hate the whole "willing to drop price just because someone else is cheaper but not willing otherwise".

I'd have been back with you guys at sky in a heartbeat if you could get me below £1000, but it wasn't quite happening.

Thats interesting to know, I need to I can renew from anytime now iirc, any idea who the policy was with? Any particular name to it?

I had driving other cars when I was 19 for a year, and it was unbelievably useful. Would love to have it again.

  No car
In currently with admiral and they were the cheapest for me. I suppose the only bad point is that Im not allowed to drive another cars (despite being policy holder) because I'm too young (21).

What age is it that you're covered to drive other cars? 25?
Also, I have a 2 litre so does that mean I'm only insured on cars with a 2 litre engine and less?

25 these days. A few companies used to offer it to under 25 years olds, quinn for example, look what happened to them!

If you have DOC, with the owners permission, you can drive a bugatti veyron.
