Looks great
Cheers dude. It's not 'immaculate' but it's usually the tidiest MX-5 when I go to meets, although I've decided that most MX-5 owners are freaks! Sometimes I feel like swapping it for a Mk3 2.0 Sport but I can't see it having the lasting appeal of the Mk1.

Nice easy day for the Mazda down at Really Retro in Seighford yesterday. Shame about the grim weather although there was still a good turnout.

Threw a video together this morning compiling my day at Mallory Park in the MX-5. First time I've done Mallory but I genuinely thought it was a fun track, and despite having the second slowest car there (spot the Austin A35!) I was one of the quicker drivers. My MX-5 is bog standard other than some Eibach springs and some different wheels, and I'm running normal Nankang road tyres too. There is a couple of Clio's, one white 200 in particular who's mirrors seemed to malfunction at 24:40. Other highlights include pushing an Ariel Atom out the way (almost literally) at 8:05 and an 'almost' moment at 5:20.
Great day, but I'm staring to crave more power!

Anglesey this time...

I've never been before but it was a circuit that had been on my bucket list for a while now, and I loved every minute of it. I was meant to go in the Fiesta but after discovering a puncture minutes before I was due to set off I ended up chucking everything in the MX-5 and going in that. The benefits of having two trackable cars!
It was my mates first trackday in his C2 VTS so I was excited for him to get a taste of pushing the limits. James Vernon was there too who some of you know in his S2000.
As always I pushed hard, a little too hard at times... I ended up stuck after spinning out and needed the recovery truck, not that it dampened my enthusiasm!

I better update this then hadn’t I!

I no longer have an MX-5, I now have a ZC32 Swift Sport and an R53 Mini Cooper S… So that’ll be my 10th Suzuki, but my first BMW Mini.

How would you say the SSS performes compared to the Mini ? Been looking at the previous gen SSS as a beginer track car, but now I've also eyed a Mini. Never driven a SSS, but had a R56 mini before.

Stock vs stock I still prefer the Swift, it’s more fun imo. The Mini trumps it in nearly every other sector apart from fun, fuel economy and brakes.
The Mini feels tougher, heavier, the steering is pretty sharp and the gearbox has a nice feel to it. It feels planted in the corners, and the torque from the supercharger is nice coming from the Swift. The added weight makes the Mini feel less responsive though, and the stock brakes are awful.

The Swift on the other hand feels like a tin box after the Mini, but the lighter and more playful chassis along with the revvy n/a engine give the car a character that the Mini lacks. Performance-wise there’s nothing in it really (trust me, I’ve tested it!). The Mini feels faster because of the charger, but the Swift will keep up no bother. The Swift’s biggest disappointment imo is the gearbox… It just feels a bit cheap and nasty compared to what you might expect from a Japanese hatch.

If I had to pick one I’d take the Suzuki, it feels keener and more satisfying to drive imo.
