Good day to all - Let’s get to the point

  Pink/Blue 182

sounds to me like you are composing an article about the 182 and want us to write it for you............no matter.

Anyway, Ive already said mine is fine (fingers crossed again)...so Ill go away and stop being cynical now.

;)

172MKII 10K on the clock not probs. lots of rattles over bumps.. but with the eibachs the suspension is @ the point of very firm, not quite backbreaking but enough to unsettle a cheap cars dash..

BTW although the 172/182 arent very cheap they can be found brand new from importers for very little. compare that to a ford focus new and youl see that all the cost on the focus, has goine into interior build, safety. and the clio is still interior wise a 1.2 pretty much.

Dear fellow Renaultsportlers,

Firstly, I am NOT writing an article of the 182 (Be serious, mate). I wrote my article with my old 172 Mk I when I had a row with R and got behind the scenes just enough to see all the f....y happening.

Secondly, next week I am putting my deposit down and I just needed to hear some comments from your point of view.

Thirdly, I would like to tell ya the following. There is simple equation: No honest criticism + no honest feedback from users = No progress, that is, no development.

I did whola lotta things to remind R that they should redesign the exhaust system. AND THEY DID - ON 182 !!!!

So VaVaVoom, a little about yourself: you mentioned paying in Deutschmarks for the exhaust. Are you or were you located in Germany?

Do you feel that the exhaust on the 182 is an engineering improvement or just a marketing/styling ploy?

6. Gearchange lever smoothness. Have you experienced any troubles when changing from the upper to the lower gear? If Yes, what was the sequence? 5th->4th or 3rd->2nd?

ive got a 172 cup, and i have the occasional problem going down from 5th to 4th

Eddd,

About location: Its EU.

About 182 exhaust:

Considering the tech facts that
- new “3Y” exhaust manifold (which replaces the former
“4-into-1”) should improve a gas outflow and allow better cylinder filling,
- greater duct length of this new manifold should result in higher torque in all speeds,
- more compact metallic (1st appearance in the R range) catalyst should provide less resistance to thru-flow and finally
- two parallel-mounted silencers should achieve proper reduction of the back-pressure,

I believe the Clio 182 exhaust should represent a real improvement. But we shall see how it functions in real "road hawg" conditions.
