Got bored...made an air filter.

  Clio 182
For the princley sum of £43.62 I had a metal elbow and K&N filter delivered.

3 minutes 18 seconds later after ripping the standard airbox out this was the outcome.

Awaits "should of got a panel filter" and "you'll end up losing power" comments :rasp:

Will go for a rag later to smash it off the limiter and see what occurs.

well I can't see any difference between this for £43 and the new ktec one people are raving about at 3 times the price, if that gives 4hp without a map, doubt this will loose you any power.

You should've bought a panel filter because you'll lose power. And you'll get heat soak so you should invest in a bucket :)

I thought you were going to have made the elbow lol not bought it :p looks decent though. Now polish that inlet so the elbow doesnt look out of place ha

I'm assuming you are aware that Ktec are a business? They make money?

Do you know that?

I might have to invest in a metal elbow - I got bored & made this (£38 for breather + silicone elbow + "Twin" cone filter)

DIY FTW

I did see that but always a bit dubious over £10 air filters. That sort of design filter with the open top would be good though as you could stick the cold air feed in it and have a ram effect pretty much.

Lads I actually bough the ITG panel filter this week - do they actually make any difference without the remap ?

cheers rob.
mine came with a ramair one on it already,
but its looking worse for wear.

i fitted a new battery yesterday,(fun when you have hands like shovels)
and i moved the cold air pipe out the way from the wing, and that crumpled to bits in my hand ffs too.
so thats gone now :S

Results:
180.0hp with the standard airbox
183.5hp with the home-made induction kit

The power graph was almost exactly the same across the whole rev range as with the standard airbox, the main difference being the roar that you get from an open cone like that!

183.5hp did you say?

So that's a 3.5bhp improvement, now you need to add up all the bits so £12.95 + £25 for a filter + £14 for a 90* elbow which gives us £51.95. Times that by the 3.5bhp improvement and you have got £181.25 as a retail price.

I know this, it's science.

where is your oil breather pipe now?
I'd got a little breather filter hidden under the coilpack :)

So that's how a popular specialist on here came up with a price of £129+VAT for a similar kit?!

The parts actually cost me £54 - good science there! :rasp:

I was bored yesterday so a bit of battery relocation and a few ebay parts =

Just need to sort the cover on the positive connection and get some protection for the cable.

Where did the battery go? I'm sure I've read in the pat that the length of the intake has an effect on the performance.
