GT5

How about chosing a ps3 over an xbox?

My xbox died and I need a new console.

Depends on whether you have many mates with a PS3 or xbox, if you have many games for the xbox or any you'd miss that are exclusive to xbox. Or any other titles that are a temptation and PS3 exclusive. GT5 alone is not a decent enough reason to buy a PS3 IMO.

So whats the crack with the Bspec races?

Do you actually have to give your guy instructions or can you just let him crack on with it, watch a bit of TV and come back for him to have won you a decent car?

How do you create a driver that doesn't have special needs?

You can't leave them to it no. Leave them with an modest pace and they'll never overtake, tell them to drive hard and leave them to it and they'll cook the tyres and/or crash. Treat the AI like the r****d it is and monitor what it's upto.

Is it worth buying if you already have a PS3?

Non of my friends have bought it yet, but I'm getting tempted to try it.

I've got mates with both consoles so that's not a problem. I need to get back into gaming asap. The only exclusive Xbox game that I want is Gears of War 3, which isn't until the end of next year so exclusivness isn't an issue either. I'l probs just get a ps3. Been wanting to try one for a while and I do really want to try GT5.

If you've got a PS3 already, it's worth a rental, or a purchase if you're flush.

To buy a PS3 for this game would be mental. It's not good enough for that.

So we don't sound like a pair of haters it's probably best to point out that you'd be hard pushed to justify a console purchase based on one game alone, no matter how great it was let alone the 7.5-8 out of 10 that GT5 warrants.

I only have COD on PS3, wanted this to be good so I could justify my purchase from a couple of years ago. I think I am going to rent it first.

how are people doing this facebook thing, even with the walkthrough i cant do it!

What walkthroughs? Im assuming the walkthroughs are telling you some long way of doing it.

I simply did the rally photo shoot game 5 times and got the car.

Just do the photo shoot game and when done just create a grudge on one random player, then repeat the process 4 more times until you have done it 5 times. It will come up with a dark box when you create a grudge but just click the facebook home link, then go back to take it to the track and it will have counted as a new grudge.

and in real life crashing results in no damage? lol

Besides the point really, the idea of the game is to race around a racing track and win money and cars, not intentionally crash into a wall at 100mph, smash up the car and win nothing.

  BMW E46 330i Touring
Aye, as a Noob I'd find it infuriating if my one mistake meant I wrecked my car. Realistic, perhaps, but I want to actually be able to race and enjoy the game. Having to continually retry races because I'm learning the game, as well as spend 000's of credits on repairing damage, would do my head in...

There's plenty to be said for damage with mechanical consequences. Completely changes the attitude to racing once you introduce a penalty for sloppy driving or intentional demolition derby tactics. If you're simulating racing, real racing has both the potential for wrecks and the penalty for getting involved in them. If you want a dodgems simulator then no damage is fine, otherwise no.

i've tried to transfer my Veyron and Pug 205 turbo from my Widow account to my LordGedi account and it said 'upload failed' and there's no little pic of the car when you go into the 'garage' if you know what i mean.

Any ideas?

eh? You mean GT5 pics or in the media forums? If the latter just seem to see the same cars or same pics posted over and over. Most of the decent quality stuff or different cars have been posted already in there.

The damage on grid isn't as punishing as something like Forza or a "proper" sim. You only have to give a front bumper a bit of a knock on Forza and your top speed can get hit a fair amount thanks to drag alone. Odd wing mirror or bumper loss round Tsukuba when things get a bit BTCC with Turner, Chris and ginger b****cks adds to the amusement too.

As for the first im talking JDM thread.

As for the above about damage omg its boring fella i dont care about the damage, on gird if i clip i kerb or summat like it normaly ends with me loosing speed due to it crabbin its **** off no argument at the end of the day going on n on about the damage is BORING come on fella drop it i aint gonna argue which is better because i know forza looks better for damage but as i quote turner said "GT5 is the best sim ive played todate" so could we say GT with Forza damage = ALL ROUND EPIC GAME

Chill winston. I'm not picking an argument with you about damage nor going on about it. I was responding to Lamborgini8's comment, he's just spouting s**t if he thinks damage doesn't matter in a racing game. Mario Kart doesn't need it but any decent "sim" worth mentioning should have a decent damage model with scaled lasting handling/performance deterioration. Forza needs to lose sticky grass, GT5 needs to lose invisible walls etc. None of them are perfect and I doubt they ever will be. I just like a game to be a decent level of simulation hence all driving aids etc OFF. I'm as entitled to say it matters as you are to think it's boring. ;)
