Looking at some random links I noticed this side-on shot of a 172mk1 - it looks nicely lowered (not by too much, but the wheels seem to fill the arches now).

Does anyone have any idea how much this would be lowered by...

that looks the same as my car when its on 15s lowered 40mm 172s are between 10-20mm lower than a standard car so i rekon its some of those Eibach springs (think it was a 30mm drop). It looks the same as a bloke i was speaking to at Santa Pod his 172 was on the Eibach springs

I dont think the fronts low enough tho. The rear is ok or maybe a tiny bit too low.
