guide on changing master brake cylinder on a 182?

If you need a guide then i probably wouldnt attempt it yourself. But you need to remove the reservoir, unbolt all the unions from the MC, undo the first 2 bolts on the servo and remove vacum pipe retaining bracket, undo the remaining 2 bolts and remove the MC. Refit in reverse order.
 
thanks mate just wanted a guide to visualise the job, there is a first time for everything. acces is trough the wheelarch I guess?

where did you get the converter M10 > M12 ?

How come you need a converter?

Flare spanners are handy for the unions too if they're corroded/seized on.
 
I didnt use a converter as my car has braided lines, i just bought another m12 banjo and fitted it to my line. You might need to make a new line up or if your careful cut the union off your current line fit and m12 union and re-flare.
 
I didnt change from hard lines, my car is a cup racer so had braided from new.
 
Mikes lucky, 2001 onwards seems they just fitted solid lines bar the section to the rear calipers :p
 
Tbh if i had to do the brake lines again id just do them in solid anyway, much neater and harder pedal than braided lines.
 
Am i crazy in thinking the mbc could be changed from above?
Just move the battery and ecu out of the way?

Yes, its secured with two M10 (?) bolts. Easier on your lhd as the engine isn't in the way :)

seems the MBC on a LHD car is completely different from a RHD car.....

the flange on a LHD 182 is oriented horizontally and is smaller (and has smaller spacing 'tween the m10 holes)
also the fittings are both M12x1

troed some modification but these wasn't enought meat in the 197 MBD to drill proper holes....
 
Would have thought so, the MC from an early non abs clio is around 1mm smaller dia piston than the 172 cup/Ragnotti MC (both have 2*m10 & 2*m12 ports). Presumably be worth doing a little reading around the effects of altering piston size. :)

The one on the cup racer is 4*m10 and is around 1mm larger dia piston than the 172 Cup/Ragnotti MC. The servo they run is also slightly larger than the rhd road cars - dont know about your lhd. Can measure if you're wanting to know.

Don't see how blanking the two redundant ports would be any different from if you were blanking one to run a bias valve to the rear calipers.

Do you have to keep the ABS for Hollands equivalent of the MOT? Surely just be easier to take it out and make new lines with a bias valve?
 
have to keep ABS. but also want to keep it and ESP....the search continues.

anybody know what makes a MBC for a car with ABS and ESP so special?
is reaming out the 182 MBC possible (and tranbsferring the innard from the 197 one)
