had a settlement figure for my write off

After my little off last wednesday I recieved a call from directline this afternoon with the news that my 172 is dead

He has offered me £9200 for it.

2001 french import Mk1

32k miles

No dents or scratches (before the crash!!)

Full Ren service history.

I paid £9995 in January for the car.

wot do you peeps reckon, good deal??

Sounds pretty good to me.

What you should do though is look around for a similar car for sale. If its going for more, then take a copy of the advert to show it your insurers. If you can prove its worth more then they will often make a better offer.

sounds good, but like lee m said if you look for adds for similar age, milage condition, ect and they are selling for more than the offer, send the ads to direct line and tell them it will cost more than there offer to replace like for like. worked for me and the offer went up 1k!

saying that your offer does seem good to start with but worth a try.

I wouldnt ever take their first offer - irrespective of whether you think it is good or not, from stories I have heard it is never their final offer, and they cant just withdraw it if you ask for more - my brother-in-law had a vehicle stolen, and they offered something like £6k for it, and he ended up with well over £7k after a couple of arguements.

might be worth a letter/call to see if you can up it, specially if you can get some comparison "for sale" prices that are higher.

ask for 9.5, and justify it - say this is what it would cost for equivalent etc...
