Had my 197 valued yesterday

Had a walk around Motorpoint and saw a nice RX8 priced at £10k with 11000 miles on the clock.

They valued my car, which I bought from them, at £7k. Bought it on HP in April 2007 for £14k I think it was. Thought that valuation was quite low myself but hey ho, buying new is a killer lol

There are used 07s going for about 9.5k with about 25k miles via traders on ebay, a few 06s with about the same milage for £8.3k, so it seems the prices are all over the place. 7k obviously sounds crap, but they might have been stuck with the Mazda for a while so are maybe looking to recoup a bit of cash from yours. Obviously its worth more than 7k.

Lol - a bloke at the Burnley Motorpoint took the piss when I went look at a Ph2 172 there. He offered just £2k for my PGGT.

They were clearly on drugs back then. Maybe they haven't changed!

Sounds like a normal dealer valuation. Probably put it up at 9-9.5k. Cars are difficult to shift at the moment, reflected in the price. Anyone that part-ex's at a dealer has to know they are getting taken for a ride.

tbh I've pxd my last 3 cars and have always been offered what I'd consider to be good prices. I even got offered £1k more for my civic sport than I owed on finance. If this is the rate of deppreciation on the 197 then unfortunately it stands to be my least effective car purchase yet.

I was quoted 5k trade (Honda Liverpool) for my 05reg LCR with 25k on the clock (mint condition). This was against a 19k S2000 which had lost 10k in 6 months (only had 4k on the clock).

This is normal for cars many ppl have found 30-50% loss in value in first 2 years of ownership at the mo

But ppl can try it on just dont go for it they clearly shift cars and the trade ins are low, there are also many dreamers that think there cars a worth a fortune.

It all relative you car come down but the one you want to trade into also losses a fortune
