Handbrake cable - end stuck in caliper

Hi has anyone had this problem, end of handbrake cable stuck in caliper, so far penetating oil, heat, hammer have all failed to remove and drilling out is proving difficult!

I had this. Drilled it out in the end.

Was this the metal piece that is separate to the caliper and holds the handbrake cable in place?

I ended up cutting the cable and chiseling it out the other way
