head unit wiring

right ive got the alpine 9812rb and all the suitable connections for the display and stalk controll. so im gonna try and take the top dash off and wire up the display. but was just wondering where do i earth the cd player and how do i get the battery cable to the battery bcause its not that long.

I just installed my Pioneeer P80MP today, needed a seperate earth, so after removing the top dash to replace the tweeters, I found an earthing screw just above the clock display. Haynes told me it was an earthing point. Installed tested it with multi, perfect.
