Help ASAP - Running problem

i'm wondering if its something daft like the sensor hasn't been calibrated/or has lost its calibration

its been running fine for 12months though, you think it could lose its calibration?

Il go with replacing it for just now, see if i can get a new one tomo.

EDIT while i remember, is it normal for water temp guage to stay at 0 then shoot to half way when the engine gets up to temp when using the omex?

If not, im guessing its fucked?

if you do get a new sensor i would suggest recalibrating it (its the sensor on the thermostat housing, on the side of the clyinder head)

its something work checking fella, might not be

is you OMEX mounted inside the engine bay?

  Exige S1 + Honda S1
know the one, i yanked it out when searching the engine bay few days ago and lost a bit of coolant.

yea it is in the engine bay, id rather have it in the glove box for obviosu reasons but would mean having to use the loom extension which would probably mean more problems

Id need the omex pc cable to recalibrate it yea?

  Lionel Richie
yeah its nowt fancy, call omex to confirm, but i think its just a normal serial cable (software is downloadable from omex website http://www.omextechnology.co.uk/)

its also possible your ecu has been password protected/locked, so you might want to call the people who built the car

I would be checking that sensor and wiring, a lot of 182s had that problem and would run badly

  Lionel Richie
it might be worth checking the wires from the sensor to the main ecu connector (incase water has got down them and corroded the wire, i've seen that a few times on omex looms) use a multimeter to check their resistance

out on a limb, have you had your injectors cleaned/serviced, we have had several (admitidly not 2.0 clio's lol) cars than ran real bad, got he injectors serviced, new filters in them and the cars ran much better, but stink of fuel would suggest fuel flowing fine???

  Exige S1 + Honda S1
cheeers fred, will do

i used quarter of a tank going 10 miles hutchie, doubt it struggling to get through the injectors

  alien green rs133
yeah i kinda thought that but was just suggesting an idea, it could of bin ;) lol i hope you get it sorted mate, if it turns out its the ecu thats dodgey, i strongly reccomend LINK engine management, seamless operation, with launch control ;)

I got a temp sensor but there is 2 yea? I got the one closest to the radiator, have I got it wrong?!

More defined symptoms after I just changed the coolant temp sensor- as soon as the coolant gets up to temperature it runs on 2 cylinders, almost exactly as the guage goes from 0 to half way.

  Exige S1 + Honda S1
from reading other posts, i think i have the wrong sensor of the 2

it all points to the coolant temp sensor, its revs at 2k revs when hot which would be over fuelling and chokes down when light throttle is applied at 3k revs

  Lionel Richie
you need a new sensor from OMEX and then set it up in the ecu (just incase the settings have been lost, or not been setup)

  Lionel Richie
the omex one "should" be mounted on the side of the head in the thermostat housing, if it isn't then thats a problem!

post a pic looking at just behind where the coolant hose comes out the front of then engine (just below the throttle body)

  V6 Exige, GTR R35
oh... is it not a renault job? where is the omex one?

i'd get onto gdi about for the sensor fella.

as per your previous post for the temp sensor on the dash - that sensor is fitted after the thermostat, therefor it reads minimum until the thermostat opens up when the water in the block reaches temp. This is fine - its supposed to do that.

as for the omex sensor it must be on the other side of the thermostat.

  ITB'd 182...
having same problem with my 182. only mod is itg panel filter.
mine is cutting out randomly, then wont start for about 15mins and you have to keep your foot flat on the throttle, then runs crap for about another 10mins (irratic revving and kangarooing up the road)
also missfires and when it does starts to black smoke!
fuel relay/sensor?
always run on super if that helps.:S

wouldnt an engine warning light come on if it was that tho?:S

  Exige S1 + Honda S1
I disconnected the lambda sensor on mine and it didnt help, also didnt show on the dash though.

Id try obvious things like the coolant temp sensor. I have one if you need it

might take you up on that. its getting booked into the garage it came from on monday so if they cant fix it then ill let you no

  Exige S1 + Honda S1
sure thing, let me know what it turns out to be cause it will prob be the same thing as mine!

Just seen this thread and read through all 8 pages of it, gutted to hear you are having problems chap. Sorry i am unable to help in any way through.

It's hard to believe no Autospark in Glasgow ca'nt fix this.

Another option would be to trailer it down to GDI
Stoddie might chip in as a goodwill gesture.lol

  Exige S1 + Honda S1
there is a lack of good specialists in glasgow who can also read omex programs too, im going to know this car better than any stealer too.
tbh after inspecting some of the wiring I dont think Id want to take it to GDI again.

I dont expect a goodwill gesture from stoddie, not his fault its not running right!

  cup 182 mit stripes
When you get it running right, philthy, perhaps you could give me a wee spin in it.
I'm getting ambivalent about my plans for cams and cable throttle operation(which needs Omex) If it's not considerably more exciting than what I have , a tenner to you could save me thousands and much grief.

Like Ali says, it's a long way to Kimbolton.

  Exige S1 + Honda S1
lol wish mine was that simple

sure thing ja.jack, maybe organise a mini meet sometime and you can keep your tenner!
