help!!!! headunit

hi my mate has a 1.216v clio y reg.

hes fitted a panasonic head unit but it wont store his presets so we switched the red and yellow leads about and it works but now when he switches the car off the head unit goes to the radio and stays on so u have to switch it off yourself.

also with the current way he has it the speedo dont wk so hes not clocking any miles but wen he switches the head unit off while driveing it works again

any one shed some light never herd off anything like it

What has he connected the live feed too? Without sound terrible sounds as if he has butchered it going on the facts of the speedo not working, as the feed for the headunit should not effect that at all.

the only thing he done to the car conectors was cut them and join them thru another block but other than that hes fitted it like any other h/u.

as soon as he switches the cd player of the speedo comes back on

Why cut the loom to save £10 on an adaptor?! If hes pulled at the loom to much he could have split some wires, sounds like he needs someone who knows what they are doing to have a look at iy

the head unit now works fine just when he has it on the sppeedo dnt wk wen he swictches it off the speedo wks

Did he cut it with the battery still on?? He could have blown a fuse wich will result in a fault or something like that.

I would rewire the loom and get a adaptor cable, because DON´T EVER CUT THE STD. LOOM.........Problems will always come when you do that!!!
