HELP!! MK1 172, Weird Noise

Right after ditching the car, its been Ok, but after driving it this morning, was getting the most awful noise. Sounds like its coming from the Aux belt. Gets worse when listening from drivers side wheel than engine bay. I noticed that most of the aux belt is exposed :/ I had to pull some of the arch lining out due to it being cracked and rubing on the tyre but it wasn't nothing to do with covering the aux belt. Can anyone advise, also anyone have any pics of inside drivers side front arch on a Mk1 172 so I can see what it should look like. Cheer. Pic below shows current state of drivers side front arch.

have you had the belts changed yet? what mileage is on the car?

more of a squeaking, belts were changed at 36k.

I think its due to the aux belt being exposed, and with all the snow/rain etc yesterday might have splashed all on the bearings :/

Spray a little bit of sillicon lube up there first.

Could be the bearings... I just replaced the tensioner one and it removed an annoying whine I've had for nearly a year!

Will try that, also may it be the altenator. I m thinking that the engine got wet as there is dirty water around.

Can some get me a pic ot the inner linning like my pic, need to see what is should look like.
