HELP PLEASE

Iv just took delivery of a 52 reg cup on 57k. Now when i test drove the car it ran lovely on the short drive i had but when it got delivered tonight it sounds like a diesel. There is a loud tapping noise on tickover. The cam belt got changed at 53k and its on 57k now.

It drives fine and performs well but obviously something is up. Any ideas??

have you checked vin number etc, when does it sound like a diesel all the time or just when cold? Same engine?

all the time mate, im pretty sure its the same engin etc, i cant see any evidence of a transplant. Its like that all the time but sounds fine when driving its just at low revs

no expert on engines so no help on that, only advice take it to a garage you trust.

ive got 1.2 so maybe no help but when it just started it taps alot, then when its warm its slightly tappy but anything above idle is sweet
