  iceberg 172
Hey i have just removed the air con from my car. i got the brackets from a lauguna and a valeo recon alternator off ebay. i havnt drove the car till today and when i hits 2k revs i get lights on the dash, abs, traction, stop, service, ect so i got it home was only around the corner.

The alternator has 3 conections on it and have heard somthing about a xtra wire being put in but i thought i use the partn number for the cup one maybe i got the wrong one. also what dod i do with the conection from the air con pump is it just an earth.

i notice alittle somke from the alterator aswell not sure if i shoud have this xtra wire on like i say lights come on at 2k and go off below 2k thanks.

Any weird dash lights, lift your bonnet and see if the alternator is giving off a burning plastic smell. It's the insulation breaking down. Car will run for a while, but one day it will just stop suddenly as the alt packs in, usually just as you turn the lights on or something. They aint cheap either!

19v @ 2k... LMGDAO, voltage regulator fekked for sure and as above, I'd leave it that way until its replaced. You should be able to rape a VR from another Valeo alternator though and switch it over should you wish to keep your costs down. It can be a fiddley job and not as easy as swapping out the ALT unit but its not rocket science and normally comes in around £20 vs £100 for a recon'd unit... your call.
