Help with Mozilla redirects

Hi guys.

The misses has clearly downloaded something on to her computer, so now every Google search result you click on redirects to MonsterBid, Gossipcentre and whole load of other shite. The only way to access the chosen link is by clicking on cached under the pop out of the page.

I've deleted BearShare, LimeWire and a few other bits. Cleared cookies, deleted loads of offline files and uninstalled and reinstalled ForeFox... But it's still there.

She's a photographer so there are shuts loads of files on the computer, so a wipe and restore is for another time. Anything that anyone can suggest in the mean time? It's really f**king annoying!!!

Ta.

Have a look in your hosts file

c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Delete everything in there and replace it with this:

# Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost

Get Spybot Search and Destroy (might have to download on another PC and copy 'n paste) and run that... Thats malware of some sort...

hold shift down when starting firefox to start it up in safemode, if i remember right you get a little menu where you need to disable add ons and use default search providers. if it starts working, reinstall firefox, if it carries on let us know for more things to try.

Download and run a full deep scan using Malware bytes, then do the same with Avast. You may need to do it in safe mode. Uninstall Firefox, reboot, install Chrome.
