HID Help (with pics.)

Right... either i'm being completely stupid, or this kit is wrong..
i've got a 2002 dynamique, 172 xenons and an aftermarket HID kit.
D2S bulb is fine, connects up fine, but i'm completely stumped as to where the hell these connect to?!

i feel retarded ...

well, that's what i thought! but there seems to be absolutely no way of doing this...
and the instructions are completely useless :S

you need to put them into the plug that comes from the car's loom

are you sure you can put them in a xenon headlight casing? in my megane with H& bulbs in it the two spade terminals go in to the plug that used to plug in to the H7 bulb. this is how it gets its live feed. but with a xenon headlight there is no real 12v feed

Well The old plug which held the bulb, plug that into there, as that is what makes them turn on, as said from the car loom.

it's different on the xenon lights though, different bulb type & holder!
i think this is what's confused me..

So what those spade connectors go to is the old plug which used to clip in to where the HID bulb sits now.

If thats a proper xenon casing (which I think it is) then you won't be able to use an ebay-tastic hid kit because for 1 as lemonnobby says theres no 12v feed to the back of the bulb because xenons don't use one. 12v is fed to the ballast/starter and the computer and they do the rest for the step up and starting side of things.
Only the proper stuff will work without fecking about with the cars loom which I wouldn't do personally.

Going to get expensive to do it properly i'm afriad. Better off buying a complete set in the first place.

It doesn't because thats a proper xenon headlight casing which doesn't have a 12v feed to the back of the bulb and has the fixings for the xenon computer and ballast/starter.

would that need to be switched evertime i want the lights on?
could this not be added to the stalk - like if i got a PH1 stalk that has a horn on the end or something?

yes you could get a stalk with an additional button,horn one im unaware as to whether that would work as it doesnt stay on,only touch and on then let go straight away off unless you could get a relay that is click on click off.it would need to be switched on when you wanted the lights on or just wire to an ignition feed (if your really ghetto) so they come on as soon as the engine is started if you are really lazy but this would power up before car started so would see a power surge at the bulbs causing them to be more likely to blow.

Didn't dutty_112's come on with the ignition IIRC? or was that the central locking.?
it will be worth looking into, seen as though i've gone to the trouble of getting all the bits and pieces...

dunno matey,never looked.you could mount a rocker switch into the stalk so you could switch it on and off properly,then hollow it out and feed cable

UPDATE:
Basically, i've had an idea, because there IS 12V going into the xenon light unit, just not to the actual xenons! both the sidelights & main beam are 12V. So i tried running the spade connectors through the sidelight holders

,

turned on the sidelights..

and it did work

My main concern is... how long would it be until something goes Boom? :S

Funk the HID kit off, flog it on the bay, and get some proper parts. save melting your loom.

because your car didnt come fitted with xenons, there will be a 12v in the wiring harness that is capable of connecting to your hids

im guessing it will be in the plug that the old ignitor was connected to.

a multimeter and turning on the dip beam would help you identify which one it is.
then you just gotta work out how to get that to your hid's

the hid kit draws 35w @ 12v
your cars original dip beam bulb h7 55w @ 12v

if you wire into this then the cars wiring is not going to take any harm

^ indeed, running off the sidelights is not such a good plan.

In theory, there will be a 12v to the ballast in the headlight, so if you look at the bottom of the unit where the ballast would be screwed, you may fit a pickup there. connecting to it could be interesting though.

Nope, that green one is from the ballast to the ignitor pack, not 12v iirc.

yellow is more hopeful, crack the multimeter out!

Another Update:
I just went ahead and cut the brown & Yellow wires, connected them up (yellow positive, brown negative)

Yes it all worked!

Comes on with the dipped beam on and everything! lol.

Quite possible THE most fiddely job i'll ever come across (except drum brakes ), and i wouldn't recommend Anyone to do it this way! Plus i doubt they're going to be very easy to sell on... but bahhh i'll worry about that when it comes to it.
And if i get a Cup/Trophy next, i'm sorted! hah.

So, all that's left is just to solder everything up, yeah?? unless there's any better way of connecting them up?
