Most cars in this thread are barely run in. I'm currently on 190,601, but it's the second engine. The first one is currently under some sheeting outside waiting for a rebuild after doing 140,000, it went to 125,000 on the original clutch. I only changed the engine when I had it tested at Surrey Rolling Road and it was making 159 horses.

My ph2 172 is on 115,000 miles - had 4 new gearboxes in that time! Don't know why they keep failing, I only used 1st, 2nd & 3rd gear!

Changing engines is cheating. Plus many in herein original engines surge higher mileage.

2005 - 182ff - 106,500 as its used for a daily commute of 88 mile. Still going strong. original clutch too

Cheers the backing is stainless steel, got it from http://metal-monkey.co.uk and got the surround sprayed to match from Spray Shack. Although I've got a carbon fibre one to go on as I fancy a change...

Good going, my Mk2 172 is on just under 145k ( original engine) and still makes very good power. The F4R is a strong engine if looked after
