honda/mitsubishi evo recaros

  535d / t5 caravelle
a few quick questions regarding honda/mitsubishi evo recaro seats

Are the honda and evo seats the same?

Is there a particular seat i need to get, or any of the above?

When fitted in a clio, can you still get passengers in the rear?

Am i right in thinking, they fit straight onto recaro subframes for the clio? ( seen this on a thread where they fitted straight onto the clio recaro subframes, cant find the thread now, think they mated up with the 2 holes at the end of the subframe rather than the ones they where ment to. ) this was honda seats btw

cheers!

I think sir_dave's trophy had different recaros in it, maybe ask him if the subframes were the same as the trophy recaros?

I have evo7 recaro seats there on omp subframes and i can get people in the back but its tight i have to tilt the seat all the way forward .

I have evo 6 seats they don't tilt but I have no rear seats so not tried to get anyone in the back. Oh and they are mounted on the oem frames

did they fit straight onto the oem frames or did you need to modify anything?

so evo 6 seats dont tilt but 7's do?

Danpl6 on here had to crack out the welder to get Emma's seats onto the OEM frames for her.

If you use trophy OEM frames though they bolt straight into those.

none of the evo seats tilt to get people in the back, but you can just wind the adjuster right forward so that people can get past them, thats how I have to do it on my turbo (aftermarket trendlines) if I want anyone in the back, not that I would normally use that car anyway if there was 3 or more people TBH

They were certainly a challenge! Sir daves were using Trophy frames as I own them.

Heres a pic of Emma's Fittings..

We used angle steel, and modified the lower seat base to sit at the right height. The drivers one is even height adjustable :)

thanks chaps! i dont mind winding the seats forward tbh, its more for getting my 2 and 3 year old in the back, along with the isofix seats, suppose they could always go in and out via the boot if necessary ( the seats, not the kids )

i imagine trophy frames are hard to come by ( without the seats )

If you have kids that you might need to get out in a hurry if you have an accident etc, pay the extra and buy trophy ones IMHO

cheers for the pic, i want something that requires no modifying if possible, looks like you've done a good job there

Glad you just said that, i hadn't thought about it like that, i only take the kids 2 mins down the road, but you never know, are trophy ones like the best part of a grand? if so i'll look into other reclining bucket seats, maybe back to the original plan of cobra daytona's

cheers

They tend to go for about 650-850 depending on condition, including the proper subframes.
They do then hold their value very well though so you wont lose anything in the long run.

looks like i need to save up a bit then lol

just had a quick google on reclining bucket seats, plenty of options came up, some unbranded s**t, and some branded stuff for reasonable money, i think a trip to deamon tweaks or similar is in order to have a try and see what i like, for example found this straight away

just an example have no idea if its any good tbh, reclining bucket seats research here i come!

Cobra stuff is normally acceptable quality although obviously not recaro OEM standards.

Not a fan of the patterns though, looks like something from the leather couch on a 70s porno set, lol

i'm not a fan myself tbh, but as example of a cheap enough recliner i thought it was ok, wonder if there wipe clean....

Meh ok :( I understand your pain though, I've just do e the same on my passenger subframe but have height adjustment on the drivers so don't really know how to go about it.

I bought some evo 8 recaros and just had some aluminium frames made which bolted onto the standard rail. I should have copyrighted the design tbh.

Tbh I'm tempted to just get some 4-5mm thick sheet steel, bend them to shape and bolt a set of runners to them then fit them in the car because it was a lot of effort to do the 'easier' passenger side frame
