Horn help please

After having my aftermarket wheel for 2 months, I thought it about time I fitted my horn.

I connected the horn to the red wire (positive) and then the other connection on the horn to the boss like people say. But I get a spark and smoke with no horn.

I then connected the black wire (earth) to the other connection on the horn and the horn sounds.

What am I meant to be doing?

so youve got a ph1 stalk (horn button on the end)

I just plugged the wires into the stalk and hey presto?

Yup that's it. So much easier to do. However I have lost self canceling indicators but purely as I'm too lazy to swap the bits over.

4 months later and I never forget to cancel them. It's natural for me.

Thanks. Tried again and got more smoke than before, lol. Melted the live wire in half

Looks like i'll be needing to take it to a pro.

Just get a ph1 stalk. Sooooo much better.

I would but now the horn on the original wheel doesnt even work. Guess i've f*cked the wiring?

I had that. Turned everything off, left it a few minutes and then tried again. Also some of the wire might have been burnt so you may need to cut it back a little.

Okay, cheers. The red covering melted right off it...
