Hottest ever Clio

Sorry, been away. We are looking at a new version for the end of production, however the discussions are still ongoing as to a specification and to whether the version would actually go ahead at all. However, what it will definitely not have, if it was to be agreed, is any increase in power.

Just found this in What Car?
Reliability survey 2004: Renault - 1 November 2004

20th out of 26

Claims per 100 vehicles 38.0
Average age 4.20 years
Average mileage 42,813
Average repair cost £287
Average time for repair 3.01 hours

Given that the average age and mileage of its cars is on the low side, this is a disappointing result for Renault. Especially since it has dropped a couple of places in the league table, despite a reduction in its claim rates.

Again, though, a couple of vehicles drag down the overall result, the Espace in particular. The ’91-’97 model had claim rates of over 90%, while almost two-thirds of owners of the ’97-’02 model had a problem – the cooling system, electrics and (on the newer model) transmission were all faults.

Older versions of the Laguna were also poor, but the Mégane and newer Clio posted much better results.

Verdict **
A decent showing for most models is ruined by the performance of the Espace.

could give the v6 a run for its money :p;)

ps i thought jeremy said they would not release a special editon 182 in the uk before they stop making them, when i mentioned it a while back

looks like renault might have shafted there recent buyers again
If you care to check your facts, I said that there would be no changes to the V6

yea this will be quick point to point but in a straight line probably even and most parts could be retro fitted.. i think their is already a coilover kit for the 225 and carbon inserts and alloys are easy to fit.. full leather seats cream or black on meg RS are too nice anyways but id still go for recliners. a remap should see a safe reliable 250hp and the stock 0-60 at least is 6.5 (6.1 tested) 0-100 is around 15.5/16 secs i think, (17.5 172clio) basically same as a wrx impreza actually tiny bit faster so remapped should see 5.7 60 and no effect on economy.. so basically wait until trophy is out / laguna GT is out and / 2.0T megane coupe is out and the prices for megane rs will be sooo silly cheap and its a great car IMO with enourmous tuning potencial.

BTW .. anyone know Vag.com where you can change the steering to give less assistance and more feel presumably you can do that with the current megane ? basically turn it into a trophy beater for not much cash.

does anyone know how true this really is?

Is this just one of those ideas that never gets launched or does it look likely to go ahead?

If it is going ahead, it kinda pisses me off buying a car & new versions are out every 6 months!!

IF Jerremy says no then it wont happen.
Thats not to say a final version of the 182 might appear with other extras.
The present shape Clio prodction run is comming to an end so they will make a load of special edition ones but there wont be any more power until the all new CLio SPort comes out next summer with ~192hp.

just a random question, Im fairly new to the forum but have noticed Jeremy knows loads about stuff going on with renault - how come he knows so much?

  Disco 5 ,Monaro VXR

so if there is no power increase how come its going to cost a grand more?? id just spend a grand on new alloys and buy the diff spoiler from renault job done??

Remember when Renault officially said there would only be one Williams then the 2 and then the 3 came out. Remember when Renault said that there would not be a 182 Cup, then there was.

I believe there will be a liminted edition and probabley at least 1 before the new shape. For me auto express rarely gets it wrong. But i will agree that it wont be 200bhp as that means the Renault engineers would have to do something.

Renault never said there wouldnt be a 182 cup.

Autoexpress do tend to guess alot!

Renault repeatedly said there was not going to be a 182 cup. This was even published in Auto express a few times.

There were lots of threads about it too.
