How big is the burn hole in your wallets?

I have a 1.2 Clio and the only thing that deters me from going up in engine size is the cost of fuel. I know most of you on here have 1*2 sports which are 2.0.

The questions are, How much are you chucking in for a full tank? How frequently are you filling up? Your Monthly cost on fuel on a average month?

A full tank on my 1.2 is about £45 and I can only get roughly 200-230 miles out of a full tank! :dead:

So whats your expenditure?

You're filling up very very early if you can only put £45 in. All mk2 tanks are the same capacity (50l iirc) regardless of engine size. As far as mpg goes have a search, it's covered pretty frequently.

Im filling it up on the last bar on the petrol indicator on the dash. Filled it up today onboad fuel said I only had roughly 20miles left in the tank filled up to the first click at £45.

Had your light come on, that seems very low. My full tank in the 182 got about 350 atleast iirc

Ive never seen my fuel light go on... LOL Once it hits the last bar I tend to fill it up as its the last bar left. Whats the reserve fuel size? Some cars have a reserve not indicated on the petrol meter right?

my 182 has better mpg than my 1.2 8v. No way your tank is full at £45 from empty. Our 1.2 TCE takes about £70 from empty and my 182 & mk1 take about the same tbh (a little bit less).

I was on the last bar went to ASDA and topped it all the way and got £45 on click. Been like that since I bought it a year ago, Its my first car its a 8v

My old 1.2 16V when filling with fuel Use to click off at about £45-£50 on the pump. Is this not normal ? Only use to get me 250-300 miles :/

you sure it has the original fuel tank on it? because it should be a 50L tank with 5L reserve and £45 will only get you in the mid/high 30s.

Bought it as it is and there was no history of any changes to the tank? I will have to have this looked at let me get
the receipt for the fuel and see how much I filled.

I remember how surprized I was when I went from my 1.2 16v to my first 172 back when I was 17, I was getting 20 miles less to a full tank in the 172 than I was in the 1.2 16v! driving both as hard as I could of course given my age at the time lol

Don't know what monthly cost is, don't think about it and don't want too haha.

Usually tank and a half a week if not more.

£60-63ish of Ultimate/Vpower lasts minimum 315 miles no matter how I drive. Which is usually pretty hard in it.

My 1.2 mk2 ph2 takes about £45-50 from petrol light.
Once filled the comp will say 415 miles (not sure what I can actually do though!)
I always thought it was a 40 liter tank :S

Average MPG is 34mpg

At least a full up a week I'd say 280 miles for every fill up, driven pretty hard or on the motorway I have seen well over 40mpg. 10 gallon tank innit

Clarkey,
If it were a 40ltr tank and you only managed to get £45 of fuel in the tank, that would mean you have found a really cheap petrol station selling fuel at £1.12 per litre.

It costs me £70 on average to fill mine up. That normally gets me between 220 and 250 miles, depending how I've driven.

I don't do as many miles as I used to! I used to spend around £500 a month on petrol in the Clio!

I love when other people's cars are s**t on fuel

my very inefficient 197 costs around £30 per week for half a tank. I can get just over 300miles from a full (£60) tank

when I was doing 90 miles per day, it was costing £70 per week

You'd barely even notice the difference in fuel going from a 1.2 to a 1*2.

I don't even pay attention to what my current car costs me in fuel really, would only upset me if I did LOL.

Let the light come on next time, you still have a good 30 miles when that comes on. You may be leaving more in there than you think.

I get 28-30mpg round town and 32-35mpg on a motorway run, depending on how hard I drive. Usually around 300-350 miles per tank.

My 172 did a steady mid-30's to the gallon.

and this was worked out using the process of calculating actual MPG's not "£30 gets my X miles"

Brim your tank. Reset your counter.
When filling from whatever level, take note of how much fuel is needed to brim the tank again, and how mnay miles you've done.
apply maths
ta-da! miles per gallon.

  Clio 182 Trophy
I fill up once a week normally and it normally costs me around the £50 mark, usually less and I manage to get 400 miles to a tank without even trying.

  RB 182
I do approximately 300 miles a week and that is costing me approximately £55-£60.

To put it in to perspective, I had a 1.4 Skoda Fabia as a run around whilst looking for an Rs and for the same weekly trip I was spending around £45.

My 1.4 has never cost over £45 to fill, going from last bar to first click. I only get about 170 miles from half a tank when full. Fill up fully once a week, about £200 a month on petrol.

Long distance relationships ftl.
