This question is mainly aimed at the younger additions of cs, just wondering whether you work full time/part time are you at college/uni ect ect if not what are you doing to pay for your rs :)

I'm getting to the point where i can still easily afford to run my 182, just getting pissed off putting £170 a month fuel in it a month.

I'm 22 and work full time as a sales pleb mate.

I do have a work van so there's no work mileage and most 'pop to the shop' trips can be done in the transit during the day. Comission helps too...

Im at Uni... To afford my 172, and now my 200, I was basically working about 25-30 hours a week in my first 2 years of Uni, and saving like a b**ch. Add the student loan on top of that.
As it's my final year, I didnt want to work as much, so im basically living off my savings and student loan.

Cant wait to be in the real world and have spendable money again lol

EDIT: I work for my local council, in their Leisure Centres and their Sports Development team. Do loads of jobs. Duty Managing, gym instructing, sports coaching, event planner/assistant, centre attendant, play leader.

Try £70 a week on petrol in a 1.2 :rasp:

Poundlands wage covers that and gives me £7 change for me to spend on some vodka, good times!

See to me, being older and probably wiser seams like a complete waste of money to me.

yeah, was going to ask what petrol is like on a 182, how much does it take to fill up what is the mpg like ect

  Rb 182 ff
Im 20 paid my 182 in full and insurance from working full time electrical apprentice, easy enough to run my 182 just still dont like paying £130 for tax and £190 for two tyres though :(

  Inferno 182 Cup
my insurance is silly, so are my repayments, and obv. petrol is stupidly overpriced...but id rather spend ££££'s on my 182 than drive round in a ford escort which costs half!!

  172cup/ insignia
Im 24 work full time doing 45+ hours a week and only use about £20 per week on fuel and 120 a month for the insurance, Only about 18 mile round trip to work each day getting about 35mpg at the minute but i have only just got the carand will take it for a nice long drive on some nice country lanes when i get some time off. :)

  BG 182 FF
I work full time, had the car for a about 20 months now since i was 20 years old.
I don't think if you ain't a job you won't be able afford it unless your at uni imo. Due to the servicing, tax, insurance and petrol. They are great fun cars but not if you are spending all your money on it imo.

im looking at getting an apprenticeship or working full time in a supermarket like tesco or w.e for a year while learning web design/programming ect

  Ph 1 172
had my 172 for a couple of years now first year was tough as i went from 3years ncb on a 1.2 8v diet engine to the phase 1 172, got to be honest though these cars are not that expensive to run i dont thing tyres are cheap general servicing if you dont mind getting your hands dirty is pretty cheap, trying owning something like an evo/scooby they are crazy prices to look after.

Im your age and was driving a Valver by 19 and and 182 by 21 and probably still would as far as petrol costs go!

I think the biggest difference is that we were paying (i speak for myself but probably others aswell) circa £1000 fully comp to insure these cars then rather than 3 or 4 times that now.

Insurance has got out of hand for anyone new to driving.

  Fiesta ST-3
I'm 23 and would say I just about afford my car. I pay my insurance upfront to save on the extra interest and then save for the next years throughout the year. Otherwise it would probably cripple me. I can't wait for it to be renewal time. But for basics like tyres, tax and servicing etc it's all about budgeting as I know when they need doing.

  Lotus Elise
I worked for the entirety of Summer whilst doing A levels as a digger driver @ £10 an hour. I also work part time whilst at uni and do some serious shopping around when sorting my insurance. Also have a £950 Fiat Punto as a run around car.

Im 20 and drive a trophy

My 182 costs me no more to run than any other car i've owned tbh.

The only consideration is insurance, but I guess I've always been lucky and found a cheap quote.

Im an apprentice joiner, got my 172 at 19 (20 now) i still pay it off and run it and still have money to save! not too bad really.

could do what a lad at my college does and thats do an apprenticeship and then work later shifts at the likes of tesco's

orr and for me i afford it off doin my electricians apprenticeship but im on a higher hourly rate than what they have to actually give although my wage is atleast half of what i used to get in my old job

Got my 182 just before my 22nd birthday... No way I could have afforded to run it last year whilst I was still at Uni

  172 cup and others
I'm 24 and my mrs uses my zaf gsi which is running 250bhp I use it out of work hours! That costs me £65 a week in fuel and is only getting 19mpg! The insurance is £140 a month as she had a bump last year! I use a 06 corsa 1.2 sxi for work which costs me about £45 a week in fuel and £60 a month insurance. I own half a 172 cup with my mate which is just a track car only and costs a unknown amount each month ( I don't want to think how much).

I pay for them by working 40hrs a week as a spark and 8 hrs a week delivering pizzas at dominos!

im interested in cars quite a lot but not sure which route to take, know barely nothing about car mechanics tbh

  Ph2 172
Im 25, i own a ph2 172, (although would love a 182 now) and i find running costs etc no issue really, tax is a JOKE tho. I am a tattoo artist, and earned absolutely shite money while on my apperentiship, thus driving sheds about!! Lol, however now i have a fairly big client base, life seems to be a bit more kind to me! Bide your time fella, get ya no claims bonus up n then try getting a 1*2, trust me it'll be well worth the wait!

  172 track thingy
Im 19 running a 182 and I'm a risk assessor for a water treatment company now, bought my car outright when I was 18 after running a sh*tter and saving like a b*itch and it's just insurance that I have to worry about now that's also a pain but hey ho lol

If u want it badly enough you will find a way :)
