How do you gain more power from a 1.2 grande?

As above,my gfs clio 1.2 seems very very slow, i had a 106 1.1 for 2 weeks which was miles better.I know the gains will be minimal, but maybe some people on here have more knowledge with this engine and know what is best to get the most from the car?

  The Beast MK4
I had one. I got more power by selling it. Simple....

And I stuck with it for 4 years. Improve the handling and the fun element will keep it going for a while.

  AMV8, Mk1 Golf
i never bothered doing anything to the engine of my 1.2 apart from trying to stop it from blowing up lol, uprate the suspension n stuff, make it like a go cart, i could take corners so much better in that than i can in the 172

Nos!!! and some max power stickers should do the trick!
lol
i persuaded her not to get a clio sport as the insurance was a fortune, insurance on her clio is 1500 and on a renault sport 172 etc was close to 3,000 grand plus she would have to spend more getting one,so this is only going to be a short term car until insurance drops a bit.Im not expecting loads of power gain options, but maybe a few cheap ones like decat pipe etc.

there really is no point mate, just wait it out, the 1.2s are fun little cars
it just seems really slow mate, she pestered me that she didnt like the way it looked so i did it up to her tastes to save her going out and spending a fortune on a new clio, and now its too slow.
I used to have a 1.1 106 independance which seemed miles nippier!i dont expect loads of bhp gains but maybe better throttle response with a larger throttle body or something? Im a noob to clio engines, other engines ive looked into, there are a few small tweaks that can be made to them just thought maybe there were a few for the clio engine too!

you can do all that but will never get you money back and as above really no point save that money and put it to buying something else in the long term

  AMV8, Mk1 Golf
i mean you can get exhaust, decat, induction etc, but for the money you prob wont even feel the difference

  Breaking A 172 Replica
I would advise investing in an Induction Kit.

They won't add anything to BHP or torque figures but they will give it a sportier sounding noise. This psycologically makes it feel quicker and providing she doesn't want to race this should do the trick.

don't forget all the stickers down the front wing of your car :clown: none of which you'll actually have on your car

i had a 1.2 16v a while ago and the the only mods i did was take out the back seats and the spare tyers and fit a backbox just to give it a deaper sound, nothing chavy. thats all i would recommend and just save up.

thats what ive done and im on my way to geting a 206 gti next week and im only 19 :approve:

shes got the money to buy a better car its just the insurance that is a killer. She was going to buy the clio sport 172,but alot of insurance companies wont touch her.Throttle response is not very good on her clio we live in a very hilly place so lots of setting offs up hills and the car wont pull away just seems to die!

i no how she feels about the insurance and the hills. there's a massive one where i live and the closer i got to the top the slower it got. i kno its a bugga but if she can wait just a lil bit and suffer with the 1.2 and the hills lol it will be worth it even more when she gets it.
