how many images will fit

  Megane Mk4
Depends on size of picture /compression(if any) /colour quality etc.

but a rough guess is this:-

1000MB Memory Card
CAMERA . # of IMAGES
2 Megapixel . 1092
3 Megapixel . 872
4 Megapixel . 528
5 Megapixel . 402
6 Megapixel . 336

Might not be right, but it won't be far off

hmm shouldnt be too bad then im borowing my dads camera to take to vegas with me for nice big photos grand canyon hoover dam etc and id rather not use his memory card so just wanted my own to keep so 336 id imagine would be jpg rather than tiff

Sorry, That list is based on Jpeg/jpg format with a compression of 8%. I got it from another forum based on digital cameras.
Tiff format your talking far less as it's an uncompressed picture format, bigger file sizes with tiff, but go with Joeldee's advice, buy as many as you can, you'll be talking photos for the fun of it. ;)

lol yeah i have my own compact camera for taking around places but my dads for the arty stuff his is only a panasonic lumix fixed lense one tho so not earth shattering

£4.99 !! i might end up needing to claim back bank charges as i will need to miss payments to buy one at that price ;)

  Better than yours. C*nt.
You won't get many TIFFs on a gb card. I use raw on mine, and only get 70 on a gb card. 300-odd on a 4gb CF.

Why use TIFF? Seems pretty pointless, it's always better getting the shots due to having the space, than to not get them at all. I've never come across a review of a camera where there has been a noticeable improvement between the highest quality JPEG setting and TIFF.

I've never used TIFF personally, I've owned 3 Panasonic Lumix cameras with the option and never been near it. Just use the best JPEG option, probably "Fine" or something like that at the highest resolution setting.

On the Lumix FZ20 a TIFF is over 16MB and the best JPEG is about 2.5MB. Considering the massive difference in file-size you would be amazed that there is virtually no difference in actual image quality. By all means use TIFF sparingly for some epic shots that you might want blown up at A3 or something as you will get a very minute improvement, but that's it.

Some approx values for a Lumix 5MP camera with a 1GB card...

TIFF = 62
High Quality JPEG: 350+
