***How much is it worth?***

Hey all. How much is my 172 cup worth. 53 plate with 68k mileage. Cambelt and dephaser need doing. Body work is really good as is interior. New discs and pads recently fitted.

I have seen silver ones sell with more miles on for over £3500 so you are selling yourself short mate. If it’s got some history and is clean I think it’s at least worth £3500. If it has the belts done it would do £4K I would think

  Mint 1*2's for sale-
On 68k these days between 3 & 4500 depending on overall condition.
At £2k your literally giving it away

Thanks all! Have no idea what it's worth, just know it's got good mileage and in decent condition. If anyone on here is genuinely interested with sensible offers I'm all ears.

Anyone have any ideas as to the value, if there is any that is, of my phase 1 pearl black?
Il insert the thread here; https://cliosport.net/threads/clio-172-phase-1-barn-find.835284/page-2#post-12003790
At present I've only just started the project, done all the nasty work of cutting all the rot so a good base, it is now a really clean phase 1 shell.
It's in essence a 106k miles, no service history car, needs belts and a new centre section of exhaust at the minimum to put it back on the road. Engine reads perfect 200psi across all cylinders and sounds really sweet albeit loud with no exhaust.
Any input is appreciated, don't really want to sell it, but the urge for an m3 is becoming strong and something's got to go.

Don't you need to be a registered breaker to be able to bid on Cat B cars?
Not entirely sure. It brought me to the membership part on sign up when I tried to place a bid so I looked no further.

I reckon the 197 might fetch £1500 and somewhere in the region of £2800 for the 200.

How much is this Clio work

85k
No history
Belts need doing

Are you implying your surprised it’s worth that much? Or devastated it’s not worth 10,000,000?
mileage means nothing if it hasn’t got the history to go with it. It might as well have 185,000 miles if it needs belts etc.

Not been on the road for 3 years looking at the mot record. Could be a nice car again but is going to require some serious money to sort I’m guessing. Missing the Cup interior, they are getting harder to find. Major service including belts, bonnet needs replacing or at least the dents properly sorting. EML light on (probably a sensor but who knows) wheels all need returning. That’s without seeing any of the almost certain rust areas. Be a lovey project for someone. But even then there is no history for it and that’s the killer for the cup collectors (is that a thing) that said I would stick it on eBay 99p start bud no reserve and sell as collect on trailer only. Bet it does £2.5k still

Ha ha, I think you’ll do more than that buddy. Just don’t post it on Facebook else you’ll be inundated by the plebs telling you it’s worth 50p or the home breakers!

I reckon a good week spent on it and it would look good. I think if you could get it back to standard interior wise you would get over £3k if you did a good advert

Wow I was thinking 800 quid
I bought a cup for a grand not too long ago. Similar condition but it was all there interior wise.

I bought it with the intention of tidying it and selling it for £3995.

when I sat down and worked out what it would cost, I was going to break even. (But I’m a business so I’d have ended up losing money one I paid my £600 vat)

I sold it on to another car dealer in the end.

these things cost mental money to get in to the likes of £5/6/7k cars. For reference, I also own a Sierra cosworth and it’s cheaper to fix up than a clio cup I assure you.

if I was you, I’d spend a weekend cleaning it properly, and advertise it as-is for £1800 with a view to getting £16/1700

Thanks for the reply’s it’s helped a lot ,

The issue for me is I know nothing about cars so I’d struggle to get it fixed and back on the road, and the cost of doing that, and I also rent the garage from the council so that’s money every month.

Give you 400 quid. Collect tomorrow x

lf you don't know much about cars and can't do any work yourself, l think you would be better off looking for a better one that needs less work.
As said above, you could easily spend £3,000 on that one just getting it right.

l did the same, paid £2,600 for one that needed a gearbox repair but looked great apart from that.

By the time l'd finished the bill was over £3,000
Clutch, driveshafts, gearbox, belts, dephaser, injectors, lower wishbones, gear lever and linkage, aircon condenser, the list went on.

l got there in the end, but my original budget of £1500 was toast.

Great car though, l will get another one day but it will have to be a low mileage one.

Any 15+ year old hot hatch that's done over 100,000 miles is going to need constant love.

The car will likely have had ten owners, at least one of which will have thrashed the car mercilessly.

And one will have done nothing to it, selling it on when the jobs began to mount up.

Even as you go up in price it seems there is always something waiting for you to spend money on.

I paid even more than the above poster for a low miles car that had lots of brand new stuff put in by the previous owner, but my alternator went and I went chasing for other things to refresh and the whole thing added up sent the cost well over £5k, including the purchase price. I also don't do any of the work myself, which helps explain the figure.

So really I'm not sure at what price point you would get a 1*2 that would need absolutely nothing done for at least a couple of years.

Anybody that buys a car like that believing that it'll need nothing done for a couple of years (assuming it'll actually be driven) is seriously deluded 😉
