Anyone got any ideas what my Black Phase 1 would be worth upon completion?
I want an agreed value insurance I have no idea what to price it at, I'm pretty sure the money ive put into it far exceeds the value but would be worth but would be interesting to know peoples opinions. Should with a bit of luck be done before the month is out and on the road.
Basic rundown of the car when finished will be;
Fresh service and mot (new oil, filter, plugs, coilpack)
Magnecor leads
Brembo discs all around
Brembo pads rear feredo ds3500 up front
Suspension refresh
New belts and dephaser
Refurbished wheels
Refinished subframe/beam/engine/ancillaries
Braided lines all around
New sills, fresh metal from the floor plan.
Knot wheeled underside and full under seal.
Mileage sits at 106k and doesn't have any history unfortunately except for all the work ive done/doing.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Jack.

Black gold 182 with both cup packs, full history 103k on the clock, one owner from new, original bill of sale and accident pack with the car, in great condition, what’s it worth?

I paid £2500 for mine, same mileage. More owners, with a decent stack of history. Un modified. Needing belts the following year. When are the belts due on it? I would say it’s worth £2750 if they are due in the next 6 months to £3250. If it were me I’d stick it up at £3500 and take £3250.

  Kangoo 182
It’s completely standard apart from the amp and sub ( which previous owner paid £1183 for) the belts will be done next month using genuine parts ( I work at a garage) as they are due end of year.

I’m about to renew my insurance and move to a new provider. They’ll give me an agreed value but they need a formal valuation. One specialist has failed to get back to me despite chasing and not sure where to try next?

Any ideas?

Considering moving on my cup soon if landing a new job/comapny car.

Very good condition mechanics and paint - loads of recent parts such as wishbones, injectors, top mounts
recent belts/dephaser/aux/water pump
loads of history
just tipped over 100K miles
12 months mot

Interested to know what they are selling at now?

I think a huge part of a Clio’s value now is in the condition of the shell. How much corrosion is there in the usual places Etc ?

Before I paid good money for any car it would have to be inspected underneath. Exterior panels can be painted and polished but if the chasis is rotten you are just polishing a turd So to speak.

With Clios, as we all know, mechanically, they are super simple and cheap to maintain.

Also, for me personally, I’d far rather see a standard car mechanically. I think a Turbo 172 is only really going to attract a limited audience.

People mention Belts like they are a big deciding factor in the Price of a car. Belts are inconsequential if the rear spring supports are rotten through or the car needs major welding etc.

Sorry, have I done something to offend? 🤣
No mate! I wasn’t talking specifically about your car !!

Your car looks like a lovely example, I just would love to have seen a standard engine as, in my opinion, your car with a standard engine would be worth more than with a Turbo.

Just my two pence worth

Hi chaps, looking at a 55k mile BG soon ish, wen lockdown eases. 04 plate, belts done by owner 2018, original very clean looking with good History (detailed spreadsheets) + past MOT's.

Cat D in 2010, had a new front bumper, wing + headlight. Any help would be great on price. Cheers

Cat D kills in in terms of valuation. I personally wouldn’t be paying over £2k for a categorised vehicle. Sure the work was probably minor, every cat D every sold the seller says ‘it was just’ but it’s a mark on the vehicle record that will always have a detrimental impact on its value. Personally sounds like £1750 to me.

Have to ask what were these worth at 5 years old for the damage to be deemed more then the car was worth
Don't know if that is correct?

ok i have a 182 titanium ff with 77 k miles. brought from one of my employees some 2 or three years back and parked in my barn. 3 previous owners first two being sisters.. all original dealership plates and windows stickers. etc etc. full history at renault until i picked it it up.. ..
interior is nice minimal wear .. .
when we picked it up.. i put an mot on it. needing new springs original cracked. and threw on new dampers , front disc and pads.. new ss exhaust, as original one
changed all the oils in gearbox and engine..
New SS exhaust old one was a little rusty . 4 new gt radial tryes on standard rims which i repainted myself ..(presenatble )
been in barn for last year on sorn think i took it out twice so now currently sorn.. was keeping it for my son when he was 21 but hes just got a 190e which he loves ..
all paperwork form new , x2 keys..
melted steering wheel and air bag light on dash where i removed the steering wheel to get it trimmed , never got round to it and put it back on now light is on.. ?

bad bits..
dent in rear passenger wing would make a nice original unmolested thrashed project car

was thinking 2k ish ..is that realistic.. ? much less i might as well park it in the corner of the barn for another few years..

It’s worth more than £2k mate. If you have space to store it, with that history and mileage. Do it! You will get people tell you, titanium isn’t worth the money. But I would say you’ll still get £3k for it. If it was me though, I’d store the thing. In 5 years that will be a rare car.

  182 arctic
thanks, i was thinking 2k because it needs the wheels being properly done, and also a dent man to visit... i love titanium.. personally with silver Turini wheels..
i do think unmolesterd cars will creep up in value from this period too. not just RS renaults . im not really fussed either way on keeping it at the moment.. as jose has his 190e but will give it some thought.. thanks for your input

Based on my recent experience of trying to get my hands on a 182, cars with minimal history and requiring work are selling for 2k plus (with an MOT). Sounds like you have a nice basis for a project there.

I personally love Titanium but everybody has their own preferences!

Personally i think £2k would be on the high side of it's worth. Depending on the condition, ie dent size, rust, etc, and how much needs doing to get it back on the road. If it is genuinely tidy and just needs a small dent pulling out. I guess it could be worth a little more to the right person.

Sounds like it's probably due belts if not now then soon, could easily spend £1.5-2k on maintenance and tidying it up. Realistically if all this was done and it had a fresh mot, it's probably a £3.5-4k car with that mileage.

Storing it for longer is potentially going to mean it requires further money spending on it in the future to get it back on the road.

Hi Darryl did all the belts last year as it was 5 years since last time.. genuine parts used
it will go straight through an mot as no advisories last year, its been out twice since

  RS 200/RS 182
Hi all got a Clio rs 200 which I am looking to sell if the right car pops up. Looking for a price so I know what to put it up for when the time comes.

Key points:
59 Clio RS 200
Mileage: 29k (Will increase daily)
Metallic black
Clean interior (Standard RS seats)
Cup Packed with genuine Cup spoiler
Scorpion non-res catback exhaust
Added RS badge to front bumper
Added steering wheel insert
Belts will be done before sale
New gearbox syncros before sale
Fresh MOT before sale
Full service before sale

Only bad points are that it has the usual stone chips on front bumper/bonnet and has a slight scuff on back bumper. Alloys could do with a respray but no curbing. (Got a little close with the pressure washer🥴) Body work has few small scratches round it but would imagine a good machine polish would get them all out.

I am very gently considering selling mine, originally I had planned to do a few track days in it but after doing all the work I've gone off that idea.... Mrs has stolen my daily hack so with the world opening back up I'm using the Clio more and more for daily duties which I never really intended. Also thinking of selling my M3 converted E46 touring and turning both cars into something along the lines of an E92 M3 or something - not clue, could all change tomorrow.

Car is on 86k currently and has had all within the last year (I will have missed loads) or couple of thousand miles:
  • Genuine Renault belt, dephaser, pump kit (timing triple checked and spot on)
  • Gen Renault plugs thermostat etc.
  • Rebuild geabox, all bearings and synchro's (Agency autos - its quiet, feels spot on, hadn't failed before just crunchy 3rd)
  • New Gen Renault lower arms, cup shocks (all round)
  • Cooksport springs
  • Rebuild front calipers with new HC disks, Mintex M1155 pads
  • New Pagid rear calipers with Red Stuff pads, disks are not more than 3k old
  • New front FAG wheel bearings
  • Powerflex purple ARB bushes
  • New Gen Renault steering rack bushes
  • New Gen Renault inner and outer track rod arms
  • Whiteline rear beam bushes
  • Febi top mounts
  • New radiator and AC rad
  • Rear end stripped down, any rust treated (fairly minor, all epoxy coated)
  • Miltek resonated exhaust with OEM cat
  • New Gen lambdas
There is a ton that I've missed and if the time comes I'll make a proper list - have a wadge of paper work to sift through, but the car has both cup packs, the engine and box were removed and the bay cleaned up, every suspension component has been replaced with new. The car runs brilliantly and is a joy to drive.

Jobs left to do - good chance I will do these before I even consider selling:
  • Various carpark dings
  • reinstall filler cap
  • have side skirts off to check for corrosion and add protection
  • Machine polish the car
  • Get AC refilled
Currently has nice 2118's and wheel spacers installed, happy to sell with/without.

Genuinely not currently selling, but want to get an idea of what to expect when/if I do. Its an odd market and I can't see too many cars to compare it with for sale at the moment after the work. Project thread is on here.

Having a bit of a dilemma as the engine on my 172 cup destroyed itself yesterday.

Just wondered if a 172 cup fully rolling minus an engine is worth anything or peanuts vs what it would be worth if I get another engine and put new belts/dephaser/water pump etc on it. Could do with people's opinions on value on both 😉

Its done 138k, gearbox was replaced last year (new box has approx 25,000 less miles on it) and new Valeo clutch fitted.

It's on the original cup Turini's with 4 brand new Michelin PS3's, 2 are fitted and the other 2 are sat in my garage ready to go on! Got a spare Turini too. In the last year or so all the brakes have been replaced with Godspeed J hook front discs, genuine Renault rear discs and Brembo pads, Goodridge brakelines and new Bosch rear load valve.

About 2 years ago I had all 4 shocks replaced with brand new genuine cup shocks. Interior is in good condition, even the steering wheel 😮 The bodywork has a few car park dings in it and the bonnet has a couple dents.

Pics are here.

I was thinking of selling it in a few months (probably why it decided to break now 😂) as I'm getting my Sunny gti-r back on the road, I reckon getting another engine and all the belts and other bits done is going to cost me £600-700. I've also got the original cat sat in my garage which is an easy £600 if I cashed it in which was partly behind my thinking of wondering what it was worth as it is?

Thats a really hard one! I would have thought you would be under 1k as a non runner, would suggest you take the good bits off first and sell separately, Wheels and tyres have got to be worth a decent amount alone, wheels, cat then sell the left over for £6-800?

Thats a really hard one!

Yes, that's why I thought I'd try and get some opinions on what it's worth. My mate said cash the cat in, sell the Turini's with brand new PS3's separately and see what you can get for the rest as a complete car?

I'm guessing if I got another engine and even with new belts etc it's probably only worth about 2k? Cups only seem to be worth decent money if they are mint with low miles!

Im no expert but surely it’s worth more than £1000 even with a blown engine ??

What would it cost to replace the engine for a new buyer ? Well under £1000 which means that they end up with what looks like a pretty decent Cup for under 2k.

Sounds good to me.

With a working engine I reckon the car is worth closer to 3k.

Tbh I just looked at 172 cup prices on ebay and they have gone up quite a bit since I last looked. I'd be chucking another engine in that, new belts while engine is out is a doddle and I think you'll be back a decent money.
