how to play FF online without premium pack ?

as title, it takes two hours to install all discs, requires a PC with internet connection also
for email + playonline I.D

obviously its like a never ending roleplaying saga with thousands of people on, its the ultimate roleplay game but it needs a HDrive rite ?

how many future online games need a HDrive for updates and new levels. basically can you run a standard x360 without the premium HDrive pack ???

i bought final fantasy XI with both expansion packs (rise n chain i think) and it was piss poor. played for 2 weeks and didnt play again. as a huge FF fan i was very dissapointed and think that Ultima Online is the best mmorpg ive played to date.
