I must be getting old!! 172 Mpg related.

Well the other day I had to do a 200mile round trip on the motorway from Dover to Sunbury.
Well not being in a crazy rush to head home I decided to just see how many mpg I could get out of my 172.
Got a average of 51.7mpg on the way home.
Am I sad or what??

They're surprisingly efficient for 20+ year old tech.

Probably give a lot of modern stuff a run for their money.

Best I got in my 182 was 48mpg. That was non stop from Warrington to Maidstone, so 200+ miles, but was loaded up with gear to camp at Le Mans.

As long as you don’t beast the poor thing they can return good numbers! Poxy hills drag the numbers down though.

Nursed my RS at 70mph on a motorway run. The dash read 31mpg, but calculation was 27 using optimax. My old Renault Clio’s were all great on fuel.

I drive it like an old lady most of the time it seems.

You did 50mph the whole way?

I had a steady run up the A1 and back last Sunday and the M2 only averaged 26mpg. It's the only way I've found to make my clio 200 look economical 😂. I did manage 32.1 mpg in it going to csf at Anglesey and having some fun the other year, but my old 182 did fotty odd on a tour of Wales under similar mixed driving. They really are amazing little cars.
