Ignition coils yet again argggggggggghhhh

my third ignition coil in 4 months has gone again, has anyone changed the whole set and does it help, as i might just buy another car.

No just the 1's that went was mostly the same 1 each time

I changed all 4 and the plugs in my 1.6 when a few started getting iffy, made a world of difference. Got 4 from ebay for £60 rather than paying renault £40 for one.

Well considering I sold the car in June 2007 quite a while ago :rasp:, lasted 9 months no problems though.

Brown tops are better than both i have found, as they are the revised versions renault currently sell.
I had the same prob as the op, used to buy £10 grey tops from ebay but they would last 2 months tops, got fed up and went to renault and it was fine ever since.

How do you tell which one isn't working properly/at all? Mine is beginning to start badly and I had the plugs changed last year so can't be them.

Well your 172 only has one coil pack, so easy enough to check.
