Im a noob so.....

  One Phat Clio
.....im looking for some good advide on machine polishers.

Bascially, i use http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/menzerna-203s.html to remove small swirls & lines/scratches & to boost the shine on the car. Im not a serious cleaner on the car so "claying" OR "waxing" three times a day for three days isn't my scene. I wondered really is there a buffer of some sort I can use to apply the Menzerna rather than use the good old elbow grease. Why...?

Two reasons;
1. Rather than work all week whilst smashin gym, the last thing I want is to mess around applying the polish, pressing firmly around the carbody actually trying to achieve any result.
2. SOO BORING & SLOW

Any advice?

Cheers Guys/Gals:)

I use a G220 with the Menz polishes, or should I say I've started experimenting with the menz polishes and will move on to try others.

If your pressing firmly with a machine polisher then you fail, you only really need to guide the polisher over the paint.

Boring and slow is just part of what is it, like growing and gaining weight is slow in the gym (obviously not the same sort of time scale). But if your not patient etc with it then maybe it's not your thing.

Yeah i hear ya bud. Patience, hmmmmm not my thing, i mean after one hour i think, theres gotta be an easier way haha. So you use the "G220" and that works fine just gently pressing?

Any idea where i can pick one up for decent price?

Cheers Alex

i am seriously contemplating whether to a machine polisher (kestrel or megs) but just cant seem to justify spending over £100 pounds for one? someone persuade me!!

There is no gently pressing etc so to speak mate, a machine polisher has variable speeds.

For example low speed to spread the polish across the paint work, moving up to higher speeds for correction. It's all explained in the guide about 'hits' and stuff.

Machine polishing a car takes a long time. Maybe its worth you using a filler polish like Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish by hand. Wont cover all marks but it will get the very light swirls. Seal it with a wax or sealant and youll be saving yourself a bit of time.

100 bucks is bugger all mate, youll need atleast 1 pad, I would reccomend a chemical guys Hex logic Green, and use the Power finish you have, that combo usually works well for me on clios and gives a good finish too.

+ its there for you to make a few quid doing mates cars, and you will always have it when you need it.

I think thats been asked 100 times lol.

Power of machine, and capability. I doubt that Halfords one would do anything. + the G220 has the luxury of using proper pads, and you can move to different sizes with the right backing plates. G220 also has variable speeds, which is important when using proper polishes and compounds.

Ive also broken 5 G220's, and I can say that meguiars are fantastic and dont kick up any fuss for a replacement machine. Unfortunately my latest victim is out of warranty so I need to get the electrician at work to bodge job it, simple fix really.

You could go with a DAS 6 which is cheaper but im not sure how they compare to a G220.
