Indeed it was, what a headache! I can see why garages wanted £70 to do it now.

Is there a cartain tool to use to slip it over? fingers sore as now.

At the moment I use a cone, its like fitting a durex on a large knob bloody hard work.
So have got similar to the above picture on order, best thing its air operated.

lol, fook spending 200 quid odd on one, i was too tight to let someone else do it for £70.

easier to just replace the whole shaft in 15 mins.

my local mechanic always uses bigger universal boots and shoves em in boiling water to soak and make them more pliable before stretching them over. cheap fix

Still have to get it over the lip though wouldnt you, shaft to gearbox?

Good tip, if i am to do it again, i will be using the boiling method.

Universal ones are garbage from past experience. Mine split 4 days after been fitted.

i dont mean the s**t universal glue together efforts i mean oversized ones which are big enough for most applications i.e. universal.
