installing aftermarket headunit in 172 cup

Car  197
anyone know how much room there is behind the headunit because ive got the adaptor leads for the stalk controls and that and theres a fair bit of cabling. also do you need the lead inbetween the plug for the standard headunit which changes the wiring over to another plug for the new headunit?

You'll have to take the dash top off the run the stalk wiring, i believe you will need an adapter as i did but mine is a ph1 so they may have changed the wiring now. There is barelyany room behing the h/u mine went in with considerable force so it may be a good idea to route the cables with the dash off.

Apparently its fairly easy, i bought my stalk adapter about 5/6 months ago...still haven't fitted it

There are small 'cubby holes' in the lower left and right in the ph1, where you can push some of the cabling and adaptors into.
Ph2s are probably different though.

what i done was remove the panel above the cup holder then you can gently pull the conectors into the gap underneath the h/u

IT's so much easier (using that word in relative terms) If you take the dash off as you can tidy the wires and hook up the stalk control. There's not a lot of room behing the headunit (well there wasn't with my sony h/u anyway!)
