insurance query for 172/182

hi folks,

im coming up for 23. Still a named driver, but getting my own policy for my clio very shortly. Do any of you know how much insurance for a 172/182 would be for someone with my situation? Havent had any accidents in 3yrs but does this come into consideration by the insurance companies if I havent had my own policy?

Anyone been in the same boat?

Depends on your postcode, Id say 850-950!

yeh thats what i thot mate! Might just have to build up the no claims on my car just now and wait for a year. My old mans insurance company are gonna give me an automatic 1 years no claims cause I have been a named driver on his policy so I suppose thats a start

I would imagine if its your first policy its likely to be quite costly as you wont have any no claims. Try the usual suspect insurance companies, Tesco etc...

Id imagine it to be around the 1500 pound mark.

I have a Cup am 23, 5yrs ncb and the lowest i can get now is 690.

My first insurance policy was on a Civic Type-R, I was 23, it was only slightly more than £1K, Id imagine with the right postcode itd be a lot less than that!

£1k for a CTR on a first policy isnt too bad. I know its still a lot of cash but i thought it would be more.

When I got my current Clio about 18 months ago, Tesco gave me a quote online for over £1k!! For a 1.4, had to tell them bout accidents tho I suppose.

If I ever get a decent job after uni then maybe I could afford something a bit faster!

Also saying that Id garage it and with all the security aspects, hopefully that would bring it down. Dont think my area is THAT bad!! Think my mate BadInvincible got a policy for £1400 for his mk1 172 and hes a year or two younger than me. There is hope!!

i got a quote on 172 £900 with 2 year full comp age 22, and no accidents in 3 years. brand new beemer coupe @£699, now wheres the sense in that.
