I bought a 182 with both Cup packs in October, and I was already insured with Elephant. I transfered my insurance over to the 182, and at the time told them about the Cup packs. They insisted they were modifications (and charged me more because of this).
My insurance is due for renewal on January 4th, so I rang them again this week, and they are still insisting its a modification. I did an online quote with Sainsburys insurance, without declaring the modification, and it was about £60 cheaper. I emailed Sainsburys insurance asking about the Cup packs, and theyve told me (in writing) they DONT regard the Cup packs as a modifciation. Hence Im not renewing with Elephant.
It seems that the definition of "Modification" varies from one insurer to another!! I think Elephant seem particularly pedantic regarding manufacturers options!
I think the best policy is declare everything (even if you think its factory fitted) and if they class it as a modification and are more expensive, just go elsewhere!!
