iPhone 3G problem

Ok so now that i have the iPhone 4 i have no used for the 3G, started to clear the phone.

Went to settings erase all and reset, all going well i thought confirmed it twice and away it went.

The problem is, it said it would take about an hour to do this, now it has been doing it since last night and all its showing now in the apple logo on a black screen with a small cog like the apple version of windows egg timer.

I really have no idea what to do ? Anyone able to offer some advice ?

Yeah you need to use a hacker tool to get it out of DFU.

Called iRecovery.

I dealt with one at the weekend which did the exact same. Hold down home and power button until screen goes black, then hold down home again whilst you plug it into the computer. iTunes then recognised it and restored it fine (thank god!).
