Ive sold my iphone 3g which is on contract, i get the 30% discount so i am just going to buy the new iphone4 outright from the apple store in town and put my old sim in once it has been cut down to size ect.

Is it easy as that, or am i missing something.

O2 has admitted that its stock of the iPhone 4 will be “extremely limited” in the UK, meaning some customers will miss out if they want to buy the much anticipated device on a contract with the network operator.
In a note on its site, the firm said the iPhone 4 will only be available for existing O2 customer at launch.



“IPhone stock will be extremely limited in the UK at launch and not everybody who wants one will be able to get one straight away,” the update noted.
“We want to make sure that our existing customers get priority so until at least the end of July, only existing O2 customers will be able to get an iPhone 4 from us.”
The network giant said that while the device will be available in O2 stores, as well as Carphone Warehouse, Best Buy, Phones4U and Apple stores it will not be available on the o2.co.uk online shop “until at least the end of July”.
It has not been plain sailing for the network operator, with widespread confusion greeting the announcement of its iPhone 4 tariffs.

The 16GB iPhone 4 will cost £209 on a £30 a month 18-month contract, but £279 on a £25 per month 24-month contract. This means that an 18-month contract on the lowest tariff works out at £749, while a 24-month contract is actually dearer, at £879.
However, an O2 spokesman confirmed to V3.co.uk that prices are correct, and that the operator offers a range of tariffs and people should pick the one that suits them best.

I was under the impression friends and family % was 30%.

But as I'm sure has been posted in 56 pages, Apple/Voda/Orange etc don't need to give discount on something that will fly off the shelves.

F&F is 17% but it doesn't apply to iPhones. Educational discount isn't allowed either.

If you're buying it direct from Apple, you're paying full price. It's as simple as that.

Just phoned tmobile to ask for my PAC code, told them I was moving to o2 cause I have an iPhone 4g on the way. Told them that for £15 per month o2 would give me

500mb data.

Tmobile said they would beat it and gave me

3gb data

For £10/month !!!!! get in !! That will save me £35 a month !

hmm, checked my apple order 3 times since placing it (once on the day, once a few days ago and again today) just to make sure it's gone through...

The card type for the payment has been different each time I checked haha,

First off it said maestro, then mastercard and now MASE.

You reckon it'll effect the order going through? Checked my mastercard account and looks like it's gone through (based on available balance now bein £499 less than it was), but it's not showing up as a transaction yet!

My account was down £599 when Apple placed the pre-authorisation on Tuesday 15th but this expires after 4 days so the money is now available again. The money will not be charged to your account until Apple process the invoice and with it request full payment.

Ive just came back from talking to my mate the metro 02 shop and he said not a problem, come in on thursday and i'll sort it out for you, £35 tarif minus the discount and then pay £119 for the phone.

Yes, that's exactly what I am planning to do but I'll be using it in my Nokia until Thursday.

Just a quick question but why do Apple insist on payment via card in shop? I spoke to them earlier and he made a point saying anyone with cash on the day would be turned away.

No bother for me but found it odd for a shop to run that way
