Southend Cliosport meets always attract people from miles around, but the pilgrimage for some is longer than most...
For Smoothed Clio and I, it all starts at 11.37am when Pete roars up to my house in Wales in his Naples Red Valver. Tanks are topped up, oil warmed, legs stretched - and the journey begins in earnest.

We hit the M4 and then M25 for most of the journey, keeping to a steady 60mph. Im in front most of the time, but sometimes Pete just cant help himself from overtaking me and giving it the Full George...

But with my Valvers subtle tuning, things dont stay that way for long!

Things go well until we hit traffic on the M25. The temperature gauge shows a heady 37degC and I begin to wish I didnt have a black car with black leather, wearing black clothes!

But it clears up and we later arrive at Southend, greeted by a bazillion other Clios of all shapes and sizes:

...and then start on the mammoth trip home. All Ill say is that you couldnt do what we were doing in a 5 Turbo (pic borrowed):

We get back to Cardiff at about 1.00am for some traffic light action, where Pete wishes that hed not got his 17s on, and have a few comedy races with weedy cars trying to take us on:

All in all a wicked day and a proper Cliosport adventure!
