i've fallen out with

  172 ph1 ASBO SLAYER
my viper....
i now have put my standard airbox back on. with heat sheild tap wrapped round it. using a green element. i've kept my foglamp out and angled the airfeeds downward in the hope that the area between the front bumpre and the arch liner (with the fog removed) is creating a high density area for the thing to suck from
172 ph1 by the way
wat ya think??

vipers are garbage, always have been. oh, and a total rip off!

hhhhmmmm but remember a stock airbox aint all that either

feed pipe off it has unacceptable losses
feed pipe on (and routed to fog lamp) sucks up too much water -the inside of the feed pipe is now rusty all the way up!
so i've binned it :)
i've been looking at the k&n typhoon with the drycharger. the ally pipe looks excellent and routes it to behind the fog and the drycharger over the top protects it (maybe  )

the unit itself isnt too bad the problem is the clio and its packed engine bay and its lack of access to the front anywhere higher up than the foglamp

Viper is one of the best filters you can get, but to get the best from it you NEED a remap

caf connected or pointing at the filter.....

which in your opinion is the way to go?

also with the caf connected it adds a lot of length of crappy consertina pipe to you air induction. can't be ideal

Bet that pipe is expensive

I'd just make one myself using Samco hosing or move the battery and box off the filter there.

Getting a CAF to the front grill really isnt that hard

I did scrape some skin off my knuckles trying to fit it, but other than that it was fairly easy to do. The only problem i have with it all is there isnt really enough room at the filter end for the CAF to sit nicely on the front, as the Rad is in the way.

the probs with having it there or in the foglamp hole is the quantity of crap and water that gets sucked in and the horrid routing required for the pipe
dont forget if the caf is connected, your induction system ends there.

Think your making a mountain out of a molehill mate.

Yeah you get wee stones going up but only dust sized particles and in any case its been proven that you get the best bhp gains by having the cold air feed pointing at the IK not actually connected to it.

I ran about with it connected for about 8 months and there was hardly any stones etc collected in my Viper. Ive now got it pointing at it and its the same.

That K&N pipe looks like it will cost a bomb. Compere it to the £25 it already costs for 34inch of the traditional hosing that pipe will easy add another 10 quid + at a guess.

Also have you seen the weight of the whole thing ? 2.4kg !! Geeezzz thats got to be 3 times more heavy than a Viper set up.

Dosent matter the circumstances, it was still proven !! ;)

Seriously tho, if its going to get a gain by sitting on a RR then there's a lot more cold air coming up through a engine when its actually in motion.

Do you not agree with having the cold air feed disconnected ??

  Lionel Richie
no i disagree with it because it was "proven" on a rolling road with the bonnet open, hardly an accurate test, all the noticabley quick clios i've driven have had vipers installed in the correct manor
