I'm going with just LOL. Surely this clownshoe has done enough flame-baiting to be perma-banned already?

I think you need a week in a Cup

;)

i dont mind the cups tbh. at least you have to drive them rather than be almost chauffered in them. just a shame the seats are horrible, and the driving position is the same as the 172s...

  Better than yours. C*nt.
is PAS a hindrance..........errr no.......dependant on how well its weighted

u really are a c**k arent u?

I'd say PAS of any kind dilutes the drive. It's because ponces can't turn a little steering wheel with a bit of rubber on the end of the mechanism, so they have to get the engine to do a bit for them.

  williams and trophy
PAS turns the car for you. Therefore if you have PAS you cant drive.

errrrr i think u need to learn about things before you post....PAS does NOT turn the wheel for u. let go of the wheel coming up to a bend....and see how u keep going in a straight line when the road turns left. yeah well done.

  A ANIMAL
im such a pure driver that i run every where. I feel wheels, doors, seats etc ruin my driving experience. you all pale in comparison.

granted, it does take away a little from the steering feel. again....dependant on how its weighted depends how much it takes the feel away.

try a proper mini with 2.2 quikrack 10 inch steering wheel, and 165/10 tyres, everything solid mounted and you wouldnt be able to turn the wheel after jumping straight out the 1*2.

ponces cant do a lot of things....which is why they rely on abs/tc/esp etc etc. when driving.

ah i see now. how the car drives has nothing to do with it, but how much of a c**k u look whilst driving the new gaylord/hairdressers mini is the be all and end all

typical poseur that hasnt got a clue imo. and the cs sheep jumping on the bandwagon to 'big up' their mates brap brap...........wtf?

have you ever driven an escort cosworth??? take forever to spool up, well the early ones anyway, and then they arent overly quick after that. nothing special.

the r32s....again the 4wd system robs soooooo much power that they arent all that either. have never driven 1, but have a few mates that are well into golfs, and they wouldnt touch one with a barge pole. which to me speaks volumes. like i said, havent driven 1 but have raced quite a few....as well as the v6 4motions. nothing to write home about tbh.

some people are happy to drive round in a new car, because of how they are percieved whilst driving it. not because of how the thing actually drives. seems you are not alone in this way of thinking. hence the sheep backing you up with OTT comments....but then...u expect clueless c**ks to come back with comments like that and you lot never disappoint me in that respect.

youre spot on there, r32's are piss poor for what they are, and cossies are the biggest mst over rated chav heaps ever made. I'd rarther own an r32 than any other golf bar the mk5 and 6 gti's though, older golfs are just rustbuckets.
I always find people with small amounts of money seem to prefer older and cheaper cars, they use the excuse 'its a better drivers car' which is just b****cks, iv'e owned the purest of drivers cars, 3 106rallyes s1 and s2's yet i'd take my cup over them every day.
if you offered one of the old car lovers a nice new hot hatch they would snap your'e hand off yet they will never admit it.

  williams and trophy
so because someone prefers to drive an older car means they are a pauper??

lmao

most original cooper s es are worth more than the current ones.......go figure.

when was the last time u saw an old school scort mk1 for example, sell for less than you could buy a 2 year old focus.

  MK1 monster
Mk1 clios are awesome little cars, and yes im slightly byast having a hybrid, but i will be the first one to admit that its rubbish especially as a daily as im discovering at the moment. ok lack of interior may be a reason but im almost waiting for it to break. doesnt stop me grinning from ear to ear as soon as i throw myself into my bucket seat though!

im agreeing with 2live, bugger getting a newer car and the 172 just doesnt do it for me cup or otherwise. ive even sold my mega reliable daily drive in favour of another valver lol.

ive driven a fair few cars and the mk1 is perfect for me, im not blinkered i just know what i like.

Haha - Touchey and isnt calling us clueless c**ks abit 'pot kettle' my friend?

You are the bloke thats still stuck in 1992 after all.

Its my sisters and thats the way it will stay! Not mine! BUT although i wouldnt want one as an everyday car (as correct it doesnt drive like any of the performance Clio's) they are still very good cars! Not Ferrari rapid on the straights like the Williams but the noise of the SC is nice and they stick to the floor quite well too!

I would prefer one over the Williams for build quality, luxury (the leather recaros are better touch than the 80's Willliams interior) and the fact i wouldnt need to worry about it going 'even more' rusty on me anytime soon and as said they do handle nicely which is pretty much what the Williams is about isnt it!?

1-0 me i think.

some people are happy to drive round in a new car, because of how they are percieved whilst driving it. not because of how the thing actually drives.

Nope! Not at all! As i already said i chopped my mk1 in because the 182 was the better car through out!

I have no loyalty to either car unlike you as i own neither so i think my arguments always going to be a little less biased than yours anyway but do keep on giving us all a laugh.....

2-0 me! Oh yes! I WIN!

I have a mk1 Clio, and I can honestly say its not a 'great' car.

Its rusty, it breaks, the heaters are s**t, the wipers (Despite new arms and blades) lift off the windscreen at 120mph, the thing rattles more than anything i've ever driven...

But despite all this, I love it. I love it for what it is. Yes, newer cars are better (Hence why I don't drive the mk1 everyday) but the mk1 was good at what it did back in the day, And i'm old and like old cars. To say a Williams is better than a 182/MCS/ New Golf GTI etc is rediculous imo.

the reason old escorts are a lot of money is because there are a lot of deluded people out there and not many rust less escorts, anyone that pays 20k for an old 'cossie' is quite simply a complete tit in my humble oppinion. r26r all day for me with 20k, it has warrenty, its faster, more reliable, nicer looking and also looks like its worth 20k ;).

For £20k I'd be buying a mint Integrale or a mint Rs500.

You can shove your R26r up your ass as far as i'm concerned. Its all about depreciation baby, and they'll earn money faster than you!!

  MK1 monster
notice you cut the last part of what he said out ;)

well i dont agree with it, i dont like MK2 clios particually ive driven a couple and as ive said does nothing for me. my best friend had an R32 golf and i didnt like that either very boring car that just felt like a tank imo

and i wouldnt buy a williams either or only if i had money to burn, im happy with my valvers.

Gotta love the people (Daniel excluded) who only dig what they own!

Variety is the spice of life and there is definetly more to it than a 15 year old Clio! lol

so you buy a car purley for the fact it doesnt depriciate much?
flol, and an r will be worth plenty in years to come, best fwd car ever and all that ;), a 197 pisses over intergerales and as cool as they look theyre overpriced too.

I'll give you that, you obviously don't know what I do for a living! lol.

Yes integrales/Cosworths etc are overpriced, but the fact is they are overpriced because they sell!! I just sold an F reg 205 gti for £2,000 ffs!

Heritage is what you need. Newer cars have none.

(I am agreeing with you that newer cars are generally better btw!!)

  LY 200
^At the end of the day mate i dont think the likes of 2live have ever argued there cars are better for depreiciation sake! They just believe they are the better cars which as you rightly point out they aint!

It was nice 'staying in front' of CTR 'bread vans' when i had my 2 litered Valver but thats all it did which got boring after a while! Regardless of heritage, in standard form or even slightly modified they are no quicker on the straights than the new ones and lack the toys, looks and build quality as each has progressed! FACT is they have got better each time!

We talk about heritage but the very best Willaims's are going for around 5k now right!? I wonder what a Trophy or R27 in mint form will go for at the smae age!?

  Better than yours. C*nt.
Oh hai. I have lots of money. I have new (ish) cars.

Will someone come to bed with me?

  White clique
I think the Williams is OK, i can see the cult status and a mint one would be good for a second car, however if I wanted an old car to have a bit of fun in / put a smile on my face, i'd get a 2CV or original Fiat 500. In terms of having a car that i can chuck about and have fun in, i get all that with my current car, or had that in my old 197/182/172 and was slightly more confident they wouldnt fall apart.

I guess it depends on how much unreliability you can put up with - sorry but no way is a 15 year old Clio going to be up to todays standards.

  182 Trophy
The problem seems to lie with the owners of these old cars saying things like 'glad youv'e come back to proper clio ownership', i mean come on get a f**king grip son. I like williams's and i would never go on a thread about a lad selling his williams for a 172 and say'glad youv'e got a proper one, its just silly.
Next time youre in youre standard williams and i'm in the cup i'll give you a wave as a come howling past you ;)

Glad you're liking the Wiliams Neil, you were quick in your old valver! Remember an ace run through Cheddar we did with me tucked in behind you.

Lol at the arguing over nothing though.

  late 2003 172cup
newer is improved, never a backwards move(some cars maybe) but renault must be doing something right. at the end of the day they are all great from when they were built and released. got to have respect for other cars like i do. although i own a cup, its not a bad car at all, but i wont go telling you its the best renault you could buy just because i own one. they are all great imo :D its what each person wants from them that matters.

My Williams 3 never broke down on me, so in that sense it is reasonable to assume reliability.

The problem arises at MoT when you need constant work doing. Every year mine cost a minimum of £100 sometimes alot more. This isn't uncommon, loads of ppl struggle with such.

Rust ruins the cars too, Matbrown has been looking for a non rusted 1 for ages and I only know of one Williams that has never been painted.

Cars do seem to grow niggles too, something does need addressing constantly but they do have a special charm. However, there is no question in my mind the RS's are better overall cars.

I can 2lives points about out for a spirited drive, the Williams was better than my 172 for that. However, if you fitted some bucket seats and a smaller steering wheel it would bridge substantially all the gap. The Williams doesn't hold that much over the newer RS's but is a good drivers car. RS is a much better daily drive.

  late 2003 172cup
i gave a williams 2 a run up french car show in 2005? i was in a saxo vts and i pulled 2-3 car lengths on it, 1st and 2nd gear was equal but 3rd the saxo had more in it. dont ask why? driver maybe? but to be level in the first 2 gears and then both be in 3rd and to see the saxo pull away was fantastic. both great cars, but really nice to see a 1.6 do that. how far cars have come hey. if everything was driven to it limit, nailed to death a 205gti, saxo vts, 172, cup, trophy, 197, i think they would all be within several car lenghts of each other to a ton. :)

my opinion(not saying i am right :D)

Ha ha yeah that was the one! Think it was bone, me and danlp at the front?

Your scooby was 4 up though wasnt it?!

Do you still have the pics from that? Lost all mine as had to format the PC (damn p**n virus)

  williams and trophy
lmao..where you all get the 'i own a williams so its the best car ever made' from is anybodies guess.

iv already stated that i believe the proper mini to be the best car ever made.

and no......i dont own 1 unfortunately.

my opinions are based on the cars iv driven, and what i like out of a car.

at this very moment in time, i have the keys to a 172 and a williams in my hand....yes the 172 makes me giggle like a schoolboy, but if it was standard it wouldnt.

however......the standard williams does.
