Ive just painted my brake callipers?

I used Hammerite smooth silver paint as ive seen on here that some people have used trouble free, but after i had finished and put my wheels back on my brother said i might have invalidadted the warranty, and hammerite isnt a proper caliper paint so it might f***k up and cause damage?

Is he talking crap or have i just made a mistake? I think it looks smart anyway.

Lots of people have used Hammerite with no problems. Though it might be an idea to give them another coat in case any does flake off.

Doubt you'll invalidate the warranty unless the paint causes a failure. Don't see how though.

you should'nt have any problems, had the calipers on my last clio painted with hammerite for about a year and never had any problems even when the car had to go into renault a couple of times

Been painting calipers for years with hammerite smooth without any problems. If the painting did cause a caliper problem whatever paint used renault would try and get out of paying anyway I bet!

As long at you have painted over the bleed nipples or anything silly you will be fine.

Your brother is full of crap.

Why pay a tenner when you can pay a fiver for hamerite, and go down the pub and have 2 pints

Cheaper and less hassle, no mixing up the 2 part paint, for exactly the same results.

the dealer would have to prove that the paint caused the failure - not even worth their while - they get paid either way at the end of the day.

if anything hammerite will be the best option......when you waste money on the real caliper paint kits for around £19 ive seen them for they are just doing the same job.the kits have 2 parts the colour paint and the hardener,,,,hammerite is the paint and the hardener mixed into 1 but at the fraction of the cost.........also will last alot longer once opened.......and certainly want damage the calipers......and on the warranty side i would be very suprised if it did..

cheers then, all i wanted to know.. and with the extra money i would have spent on caliper paint i went down the pub and had a gd few
