Jamie's Inferno 182

  Inferno 182
Hi I'm Jamie and ive recently bought an inferno! I've always wanted an RS Clio since i started driving. This is now my 4th car and my 3rd Clio! Other 2 were 1.6 Dynamique. One i crashed and the other i still have but is up for sale. I loved this car and put alot of work into but now i felt it was time to get an RS Clio. Quick picture of my last clio:

Now enough of that, onto the Inferno. Picked this up the other for £2600 on 62k miles which was an absolute bargain. I saw it on autotrader and it was up for £2800, managed to knock him down £200 as there is a small dent in bonnet. Other than that the car is perfect!

Future plans:

-New tyres all round (Hancook S1 Evo)
-New exhaust system inc. de-cat
-Better springs and shocks as its currently on Apex 60mm springs :(
-Speedline Turinis
-Skoda Fabia splitter
-Front and rear strut braces
-New bonnet!
-Modern Renault Sport badge
-Better brakes!
-Clean up engine (currently in process)
-And many more for fast road use but too many to list!

Also a few updates that i have done to the car since I've had it:

New ClioSport Trax Sticker!

New k-tec Panel Filter:

This panel filter I am very happy with. K-Tec have done a very good job with this one. Throttle response is so much better and can feel there is alot more torque. Feels like I have chucked a passenger out lol.

And here's a pic of the start of cleaning the engine up. Forgive me for the Half job but I started to get blisters from sanding it down and couldn't take it anymore! Just needs a bit more sanding on each and a few coats of Autosol then will be done. Will finish it off this week and update :)

But that's it for now, and alot more to come. Feel free to comment, thanks, Jamie.

I seen this on autotrader, When I asking about it he said he doesn't think the cambelt had been done on it

Looks a nice car

Used this tiny machine sanding too I borrowed off a friend just to make the process quicker. But if you don't have that then just use a very rough grain sand paper. Then I used a smoother grain (forgot which number) to smooth it all out. Then I put a layer of autosol on and rubbed that in with the finest wet and dry paper I had, then wipe off with a cloth. Then I put another layer on, let dry then wipe off with microfibre cloth.

nice buy chap, but do check if belts have been done, if they need doing don't risk putting it off ;)

  Inferno 182
wow not bad at all is it a ff half leather seats? xenons? i can see it has cup spoiler/wheels

Yep half leather and xenons, on the advert it said it had cup splitter, but it doesn't so I don't think the lad realised what a splitter was lol

  Inferno 182
Oh and i also put the skoda splitter on, will get some pics up soon. It really finishes off the front end.

Lovely looking inferno mate.

Should get it posted in the Inferno Owners threads.

Got some bad news :( I think the beans cambelt has gone, she broke down on way to work, rac came out and he reckons it gone along with a load of pulleys :( got someone coming on Tuesday to have a proper look but now that's a few hundred down the drain!

Unlucky mate, you didn't seem to bothered by the belts when everyone was asking lol.

Hope you get it sorted soon.

This is why it is so important if you have no proof or knowing of them being done or not...to get them done!! i know it is alot of money but atleast you wouldn't be this situation now :( people buy these cars and insure them but it is running them people seem to skimp on

The lad I bought it off told me they had been done. But it was my own fault for not double checking. Selling my old car this week so will have to use the money from that, which was going to go towards cheaper insurance payed annually.

Yeah I know :( I have definitely learnt my lesson! And hope that other new owners read this!!

When I was asking him about the car he said there was no proof of the belts being done, but he said the engine was good and no sign of any belts slipping, I would have wanted proof for me to believe the belts had been done but you live and learn, I bet your gutted how much is it gonna cost to get sorted

Such a shame but yes I will learn. Not sure how much it will cost :/ shouldn't be too much, had 3 people offering to do it on the cheap and one of them being a renault technician :) got someone looking at it today to see how much needs doing.

  Inferno 182
It has officially been checked, I need a new cambelt and other engine parts :( £300 for parts and £250 labour (which is brilliant IMO)!! Oh well, hopefull it will feel like a brand new engine!

Make sure the cambelt is done by someone who knows what they are doing, or it could happen again :p

Glad it's getting sorted though mate :)

Right I'm looking at getting new tyres this week, I do really like Hankook S1 Evo's, but they are hard to get hold of atm for some reason :/ but I've noticed that uniroyal rainsport 2's have been brought up alot recently. How do they compare to Hankook if anyone has had both? Just wondering why they are so cheap!

  Inferno 182
Right found a set of tyres I am going to buy: BFGoodrich gForce Profiler 2

After looking all day at different tyres and reviews, these tyres have definately won at only £68 each off camskill. Has anyone else had any experience of these tyres?

Also this website is very useful for tyre reviews: http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/

So, cambelt went, damaged internals, went to a s**t mechanic, he made it worse, now I'm needing a new engine!! WARNING people please don't make my mistake and go for the cheap mechanic, you pay for what you get. F4R engines need specialists dealing with them! On the bright side I've found an engine with 31k miles out of a trophy, with a 3 month warrantee for £750! From a renault parts dealership :)

1st update in quite a while. As i've said above had quite a few problems with the car which ended up me needing a new engine. Finally got everything sorted....£2760 later!!! As when the engine was taken out we found a few other parts needing replacing:

Engine - £800 (inc. £50 delivery)
Subframe - £120
Power steering pump - £50
Clutch plate - £90
Labor and other parts that needing doing - £1100
Money wasted getting it destroyed by the old s**t mechanic that didn't have a clue what he was doing - £600

But all is good now and the bean is running better than ever!

I also treated her to some new parts once she came back

-New KTR ultra exhaust inc. de-cat that i bought off BIG_ASH (has no tips but they will be coming soon!)
-Skoda splitter
-x2 Uniroyal Rainsports
-KTR panel filter on its way

Plans:

-New shocks and springs/Coilovers
-2118's
-Fix dent in bonnet
-RS Tuner box
-Exhaust tips to be put on
-Anything else that comes up

Thanks for reading! Here's a few pics i took the other day, sorry its not too clean, its too cold to have a detailing session!

Crikey, glad everything is sorted now though. Shouldn't have any more engine related problems!

Plans sound good too.
