Took delivery of this 1999 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 6 about a month ago from the auctions in Japan to me here in Calgary.

It's not perfect but, with it being 17 years old, I'm delighted with it.

There are still a few bits to sort out over winter:
  • Tidy some wiring
  • New driveshaft seals on the rear diff (dribbles a bit)
  • Fluid change for the gearbox and transfer case/box, will hopefully quieten down the whining noises.
  • Full detail
  • Repaint the front lip
Modifications it came with:
  • Ohlins coilovers
  • Cusco 6 point cage
  • Defi gauges and control box
  • Work Emotion CR 18" wheels
  • Blitz air filter
  • Koyorad radiator with Blitz 1.3bar cap
  • Rear Ralliart strut brace
  • HKS boost controller
  • Fujitsubo Cat-back
Excuses the crappy iphone 4 pics and the randomness of them but once it's detailed I will post quality shots.

That's lovely. Did you know it had all those parts on when buying it or were they a nice bonus?

You live in Calgary? I thought you were from the UK! Loved your exclusive!

I did but I left for the mountains out here in Canada. I miss my exclusive, was a great car. Thanks

As @Philip. said, most parts are listed on the auction sheet before buying. But there were a few nice surprises.

nice. What are you doing for work out in Calgary, my brother has lived over there for two years now working on the oil fields as a spark.

I work in the oil and gas industry as a Trenchless Engineer. Have done for the past 18 months and been in Canada for 2 years now. Love it.

Winter is well on it's way here, seen a few negative numbers over night already, time to tuck the Evo away in the garage until spring time.

Set to work on the Evo.

Changed the rear diff driveshaft and axle seals.

Failed attempt of fitting a whiteline rear sway bar, It hits the rear subframe/diff carrier.

First real look at the underside and luckily it super super good, no rust. Sill needs a good detail!

Is the Vee a LHD?

Whats the story with the importing? I've seen various folk importing things that weren't allowed before?

Yep LHD, 'back in the day' the French didn't really care about the Japanese so just sold them LHD cars. All 172's and Pug 106 GTI's are all LHD that are pre 2003ish.

Importing into Canada - the car has to be 15 years old.

USA has had some importation loopholes closed (they have a 25 year rule). Canada's rules a pretty black and white.

i'am going to canada next july visiting vancouver, calgary , banff . also visiting lake louise and the ice fields . have you visited them by any chance e1100t ?

It must be an absolute nightmare sourcing parts for these imports i'd imgaine is it not??

Can't imagine there will be any Renault Sport specialists in Canada lol.

Parts are ok to source in general, Delicas are very popular here. Even parts from Japan are not that hard to get hold of you just wait a little while.

I think i will unwittingly become the first Renault specialist in Canada, but again at least I can source parts from the UK. The timing belt and water pump were changed recently on this Ph1 so I don't have to worry about that for a while
How much have you paid for the ph1??
Too much in all honesty but I really wanted one. 248,000 yen car cost.
That phase 1 looks brill
Thanks! 72,000 miles (115kms), exterior is great, re-trimmed wheel, totally standard.
Awesome collection!
Thanks :) hopefully the collection grows slowly over time. I have a couple more on the hit list for next year.
That Delica is cool!
It's kinda a weird cool. It will be my dailying as well as a bit of an adventure bus.

Looks great!!

I work that out at £1800 for the Phase 1? Thats not bad at all?
1680 pounds as a car cost at auction but I still have shipping to pay for etc.
To be fair the LHD stuff from France seems to be really pricey so maybe ive done ok in the grand scheme of things!

Nice collection!

How do you find living in Canada? I went out there earlier this year and am going again in January. Have wondered what it would be like to live there.

Canada, Calgary specifically, is great. If you enjoy the mountains and general outdoor-sy activities then you can't go wrong!

What's the process for moving out there? What hoops do you have to jump through, if any? Are immigration rules tough? I'd like to visit Calgary. Had a connecting flight through there and it looked nice with the mountains nearby.

I have a connection in Winnipeg, so hardly a tourist hot spot. Still nice enough though.

A great place - I'd definitely recommend it!
