1.2 Dynamique billabong
Well i sold my saxo back in oct for a deal that was too good to refuse,
i then decided that i wanted a mk2 ph2 clio sport but the insurance was £3000 a year so that was a definate no go. at the time i was looking there were very few available especially in my area. in the end i picked up this clio 1.2 dynamique billabong edition, 03 plate on 40k for £3300 for a garage with a warrenty. (in the 4 years i owned my saxo i only did 10k as i only use my car twice a week to get to uni and most of that is stuck in traffic so i wasnt too worried by the engine size, yes its not very quick but its fine for what i need and its cheap to insure)
for the first few months there was little progress on the car as i set about collecting various parts
i picked up these kei wheels from schweppy which i was pleased with, probably not my first choice but they were a decent price (in desperate need of a refurb though)
i also fitted a RS grill and gave it a general clean
next up i test fitted a 182 rear bumper so i could measure up a 182 style exhaust.
the car then got lowered 50mm (putting the standard wheels back on in case they rubbed)
recently i have really started cracking on with this project by colourcoding the bumpstrips and rear spoiler,
i then started to custom fit a 182 front bumper to the standard wings, along with a meggy splitter.
before adjusting bumper brackets
after adjustment
i smoothed out the washer jet holes
after a bit of fibreglass work and some filler i got a decent fit
front end done (door handles not painted)
i fitted a pipercross induction kit, i know there not great for gains but at least it sounds a bit better
i refurbed the kei wheels in ford graphite grey
wheel done but not fitted as i needed a trolley jack as my stock one wouldnt work
and another one of the front it looks mean and you can see the splitter better in this pic
i swapped the 182 rear bumper over for the standard one so i can paint it so this is how the car looks at the moment. its a bit front heavy but once i fit the RS style skirts and 182 rear bumper and get the exhaust done it will look ace.
pics dont do it justice at the moment as they were taken in the rain, the wheels have quite a lot of flake in the which is shiney in the sun. also the car needs PC'ing which will be done once i have finished
i am painting the 182 rear bumper as we speak
please no 'you should have bought a sport' comments - i worked out that i can buy and mod my car and run it with tax, mot and insurance for 5 years for the same price as 1 year insurance and cost of a similar age/mileage sport
